They're not, even though my user account in XP is Administrator. MM throws no error messages when closing (I even checked background processes to see if there were any left over by MM, but no).

Thanks, Teknojnky. I guess my question implied that they might be stored in a place somehow unreachable by MM (on the external HDD) since they keep going back to the default. The follow-up question is therefore: why aren't new UI preferences stored in the registry? I'd hate to muck around in there e...

Where are prefs stored?

I used to have a sweet setup: MM installed at home and at the office, but music and the MediaMonkey folder (db, ini etc) on a USB hard drive. That way, both at work and at home, I can listen to all my music and have playcounts and -times registered. Then that drive died. :o Now, when I am trying to ...

@Peke: It gets worse. After I wrote the post below, I tried once more to connect the HDD, and now it does not even start spinning. It is most definitely dead. @Everyone: I did open the database in MS Access, only to get the message that the database was read-only. A lightbulb went off over my head, ...

@Peke: The drive was dropped on the floor, and I thought it was OK since it was powered off/not spinning, but I guess the casing was really bad (it was a cheap drive). So, the next time I connected it, it started making creaky noises. I immediately started copying off data, since I wasn´t sure my ba...

Maintained the library, MediaMonkey worked for about 30 seconds with that, no change.

Tried to run onkel_enno´s script again after maintaining, no change.

sorry, onkel_enno, I should have posted this sooner, but something came in the way. I already installed your script and tried it, but when I run it: 1. Selecting the old and new HDD from the list (oddly, the old one is listed twice - I´ve tried both) 2. Saying yes to the warning "Are you really sure...

Restoring DB and music after HDD crash

I used to have all my music on an external HDD mapped to the M: drive on my PC. Then that HDD died on me! Fortunately I had backup, so getting my Monkey back up should be easy. Or so I thought... I set up my PC with a SAN and mapped it to the M: drive. Then I mapped "My Documents" to M, so tha...

Just wanted to add my pleas to this thread. I just switched to Mac - the only thing holding me back was in fact the lack of MM! I guess I will be using Parallels to run MM, but it´s a clumsy solution, requiring a virtual XP machine to always be running (yes, I always listen to music at my computer)....

One word: WOW! I absolutely love the last.fm integration - I think I suggested the similar artist thing, but integrating it with how many albums/tracks by similar artists you have in your library is just genius. Also very very happy about the advanced options for what to do with any listed track - r...

Trixmoto's site has had a problem for quite a while now. In the Script section, I only get this error: Warning: mysql_connect(): Too many connections in /home/trixmoto/public_html/mm/scripts.php on line 19 Could not connect: Too many connections . Can someone upload the install file for v1.2? I miss...

Original year in autoplaylists

Unless I am missing something, you cannot use the Original year field in autoplaylists. This is a problem with many compilations where I want tracks to be included in year-specific playlists. For example, I have a "Best of the 80s" playlist where I want a random selection of my highest rated tracks ...

ZenMonkey

hey, I actually came to the Monkey because of a Zen Vision M as well! Trying to transfer music to it with tags, album art, ratings and everything intact was a nightmare with WMP and only marginally better with Winamp (not to brag, but I knew right off the bat not to even try with the included softwa...
