Hi guys, long time member but forgot my logins....
Anyway, I am trying to get my old 'music' laptops up to date. This Compaq XP service pack 3 machine was fine a few years ago.
Today I got it powered up and opened Mediamonkey. To my surprise, no MP3s will play. Not greyed out or anything and definitely in the folders scanned to MM4.
I tried Wmplayer and had the same problem, no MP3s played with error of codecs missing.
I certainly don't remember messing with this before it was put aside.
I checked MM plugins and 'in_wmp3.dll' is there. And Media monkey MP3 player V2.0
I tried putting 'Lame' codecs in but no change.
I just D/L Media player classic and the files played fine. Restarted laptop, opened MM but still the same.
What have I done???
Appreciate any help.
MM 4.1.7.1741
Thanks. Martin

Re: mp3 files not playing.
You're on a really old build: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=8811&sd=d
You may have a N version of Windows which is missing media components: https://www.mediamonkey.com/support/kno ... -8-8-1-10/

Re: mp3 files not playing.
Thanks for the response.
Yes, I realise it's an older build of MM but it was working for years and I love it.
I have MM5 on my Win 10 laptop and don't like it.
Surely it's something silly that I have omitted to check?
Martin.
EDIT:
I have installed MM 4.1.24.1883 over the top of the previous version hoping it might fix my issue.
The issue remains. But my MP3s still play fine with media player classic.
I also D/L windows media player 11 hoping it might fix it.
BUT now my HDD drive with music is reading files rather than opening the library.
Surely I wont have to rescan all my music again?

Re: mp3 files not playing.
I installed the in_mad.dll and it now works.
Never had to do this before so whatever issue I had is still there.
I would be grateful if anybody has any ideas.
Thanks. Martin
