Winamp not found error

Post by roxanne.w »

I just recently purchased the Gold version of Media Monkey and I think its WONDERFUL! the only problem is everytime I start the program it gives me an error that it cannot find Winamp? I'm using Winamp3, and wondered if this is creating the problem? Maybe I downloaded/purchased the wrong "version" of the software?

Any help would be appreciated :)

WinAmp2 needed not 3

Post by Lowlander »

MediaMonkey supports WinAmp2, not WinAmp3. You should be able to find WinAmp2 everywhere as it is still commonly used.

It is fully tested on Winamp 5 Beta.

It works :)

fyi, I _did_ have problems using Winamp 5 with mediamonkey and reverted back to Winamp 2.

(winamp 5 does look like an improvement to version 3--I believe that the thinking behind the version number is 5=2+3 i.e. the speed of version 2 with the functionality of version 3)

Winamp 5 is basicly 2.95 with few upgrades regarding WMP 3 and had no problems.

One thing more I'm Just curious why all of you use WMP2?
The MM Internal Player can use most of plugins from WMP2 (Tested with 99% exept general  which are poorly supported), I'm certain that MM can play with same quality as WMP with more function support and wide more. But this is my opinion which I'll fight for.

Just MM here

Post by Lowlander »

Oh, I just use the internal player of MM. No need for WinAmp here either. I'm just interested in the discussion as many didn't like WinAmp3 and WinAmp2 seems to be the bigger of the two.
The only reason I actually have WinAmp at all is that many plugins from WinAmp that can be used in MM need WinAmp to be installed to be able to install.
I hope the future of MM is without WinAmp.

Same With me, I use WMP to listen Ripped Tracks couse I use AudioGrabber for ripping, Plugin test is also done with WMP and MM is rearanged to be half DJ Station, half All day Music Player. I like WMP 2 But its lack of my demads solutions bring me to MM which I'll never regret.
