Files greyed out after moved files from HDD1 to HDD2

Post by MmChris »

Hi,

I've searched the forum tried some solution but none of them worked so:

After moving MP3s from HDD1 to HDD2 via MM-auto-org files are moved and the MM-DB (v3.0.6.1190) is updated.
But: I can't play the files via MM, they're all greyed out, path shows "[500GB]\audio\*.mp3" which seems to be correct as HDD label is "500GB". (Although playing the MP3 via WindowsExplorer (starting to play in MM) works fine.)

After updating the MM-Path to "E:\audio\*.mp3" let me play the song once, afterwards MM changes the path back to "[500GB]\audio\*.mp3" and file is greyed out again.

Trying to re AutoOrg does not work: ErrorMsg says: The Media '500GB' is not inserted. (Which is not true).

I've also installed "SqlViewer"-Script and tried to replace the "[500GB]" in Path but it's not in there, this seems to be the Media-Part of the FullQualifiedFileName.

So here I am - what do I need to do to get it all fixed ?

Thank you,
christian

Did you ever update the MediaMonkey.ini file to block drive E:?

Check if the MediaMonkey.ini file is ignoring the drive letter used by the Device by finding the "IgnoreDriveLetters=" section in MediaMonkey.ini . If drive E is listed there, remove it. If you're not sure where to the file, see:

No, just rechecked and it's only blocking A and B.

Just for completeness:I now remember that after moving files from old HDD to new HDD I've converted from FAT32 to NTFS.

Anybody else ?

Thank you

well thats what did it rescan your folders. or if gold version of mm 3 just tell him to find missing or moved files.

8) if that does not work,
then over install mediamonkey so it seens you are on a different file system.

don't remove monkey just reinstall it with out taking the first one off the system, that is the simplist way to fix some errors.

Ok, As GoldUser the rescan doesn't work - MM doesn't find those files even if I point him directly to the files.
Even A reinstall (over-install) does not fix the pb.
And once more renaming the path within MM works fine for a single play of the track but reverts back to the "wrong" Media [500GB]. Aarghh!

Any more suggestions ?

Thanks, christian

Something seems to have got wrong when you moved your collection. MM uses the serial number of the HDD to find the drive letter.
You could try this: (Use SQL-Viewer but read the whole instruction before you start)
1. Back up your database!
2. Check which Songs.IDMedia is used on the tracks which doesn't play.
3. Add a small folder of music, which don't work, to the library.
4. Check the Songs.IDMedia of these newly added tracks.
5. Update the Serialnumber in the table Medias of the IDMedia found in '2)' to the one found in '4)'

First of all: Now it's works ;-),

How did I solve this:
  • * backup database
    * drop DriveLetter from new HDD
    * attach Drive as a Folder on another HDD (WinXp Pro)
    * add one new mp3 to Mediamonkey to get 'MediaId' via SqlViewer-Script
    * Update all rows in songs-table via SqlViewer to use new 'MediaId'
cheers
