Creating a seamless mp3 file from a multi-tracked album?

Creating a seamless mp3 file from a multi-tracked album?
Hopefully a simple request...
I have been using the full version of MediaMonkey for a while now, and love it. One thing is annoying me though...
Is there any way to create a seamless single mp3 file from a multitracked album?
I have a few tracked mix albums, when I rip them I get an annoying dip between tracks, which ruins the flow of the mix.
I hope Mediamonkey can do this, otherwise, what should I be using to do this?
Regards
G

Sorry, MM can't do this, you'll need to find another ripping program to do that.

Gutted...is it something that they are planning to implement?
What do I need to use to do this then?

I'm not aware that the team is looking to implement that particular ripping feature. However, there are plenty of other free apps that can do it. You can use google to find a number of them, though I'm pretty sure that the ripping program EAC can do it:gjkendall wrote:nohitter151 wrote:Sorry, MM can't do this, you'll need to find another ripping program to do that.

If it's for playing on computer, MM can play these tracks seamlessly if you set the Output plugin accordingly.
See this post: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... =7&t=39857 or search the forum for the word "gapless".

Doesn't work properly on MP3s, I find. Up to one coding frame's gap remains.

Not in MM, but the bigger problem is that it you do it in another program, MM cannto play the individual tracks IAFACT - MM track mamnagement doesn't undertand cue points or .CUE files.

I see no way can MM know to remove e.g. 50ms of silence created by encoding, and not to remove 50ms of silence in the orignal material.

Then isn't that the encoding program's problem, not MM's?chrisjj wrote:> Works fine here.

I own several "gapless" albums, most famously Pink Floyd's Dark Side of The Moon, ripped into mp3 with EAC (and a external lame encoder) which play perfectly seamlessly on both MM and my ipod. This is with the aforementioned gapless setting in output.

Nope. It is the problem of MM since it is MM that's trying to do the gapless playback.

That's the point of gapless playback. It removes silence regardless.chrisjj wrote:> Works fine here.

I thought the point of gpaless playback was to remove just gaps. Removal of silence that is not a gap could disturb the music.

Re: Creating a seamless mp3 file from a multi-tracked album?
True. Gapless playback removes silence only at beginning and ending of tracks, trying to remove gaps due to compression scheme artifacts and delayed output.chrisjj wrote:I thought the point of gapless playback was to remove just gaps. Removal of silence that is not a gap could disturb the music.
According to wikipedia,
... plugins can be used to detect silence between tracks and trim the audio as necessary on playback. This is not an optimal solution because it does not always produce results identical to the source. Sometimes an artist may intentionally leave silence at track boundaries for dramatic effect; removing this silence also removes that effect.
