album art in a seperate window??

Post by yogu »

Hi
Is there a way to have the Now Playing album art display in a separate window? I can click on the album art from the standard view and it will pop up nicely in a resizeable window, but it won't change with each new track.

I know there must be a simple script that will do this, but I'm not sure where to look. I'd like to be able to drag this separate window to my extended desktop (TV) so that I can see the album art for each new song as it plays.

Thanks for any ideas!!!

I don't think this feature is available, even with a script.

Maybe you could do it with Minilyrics, though:

In Minilyrics settings change the background to use the track album art.

It is possible to make an miniplayer that only shows album art and nothing more. You can make the album art how big you like. If you use this solution you can't use MM main window when you show the album art (you are using the mini player).

If you would like me too I can make you a mini player. I need to know how big the window need to be in pixels. What background color do you want to use? Any image when album art is missing?

Have you seen this script:

It is similiar to the Itunes "Flow" functionality.

That's awful nice, K_R, but I guess that kinda defeats the purpose if I can't have the main window and the miniplayer up at the same time. Here's what I want to do....

I want to have the main player up in my laptop, and then I've connected to my TV, so I'd like to move the somehow-impossible refreshing album art window to my extended desktop (my TV), so that all I have to do is look at the TV (where the music is playing) and see what album is playing.

I suppose I could move a visualization window on to my TV, but I don't even think there are visualizations that only display album art and track info. Or are there? Would THAT be easy to do, K_R?

Thanks for everyone's help!

Minilyrics would work for you if you are playing mp3 files and the art is stored to the tags.

hmm... you know, Minilyrics almost works! The only problem is that the album art (background image) won't resize to fit the window. So it usually either repeatedly tiles the smaller cover image or I'll only see the top-left corner of a large cover pic.

So, I really appreciate the suggestions!! I think the best bet would be to have a visualization that only displays album art. OR... ask MM developers nicely to make the album art pane detachable somehow. EASY!

The AA pane is detachable... it just won't display when the player is in Miniplayer mode.

You may be interrested in CD Art Display sofware, especially since it works with MM.

How is that album art pane detachable??

I mean, I can click on it, a separate window will open with album art, but that window will not refresh with the subsequent songs. It's just for that one song, unless I click on it again. and again.

So, is that what you mean, or is the refreshing window really detachable?

Yous must first display its title bar: right-click the panel->Show titlebar.
Then you can drag the panel out by its titlebar.
