Moving music to a NAS on another computer

Post by cotp »

Hello decided to post in general help a pb I had moving my music to my new computer. Already talked about it here

The music is now located on a NAS with same letter as before

I used the 5.8 script to migrate my database. Everything seemed to run okay but when I have a look at my database I have everysong in double.

1) With the correct path J:\MUSIC but has no count play (must have browsed the system twice)
2) With the incorrect path "[]\MUSIC" with count play (must have been imported in mediamoney with incorrect path :/
3) I also try moving the MM database manually

I did all the changes indicated here:
http://www.plasticsun.com/GiantInternat ... wDrive.htm

1. Get Disk Serial Number of New Drive
2. Convert Serial Number to Decimal
3. Backup the MediaMonkey Database
4. Open MediaMonkey Database
5. Change the Disk Serial Number in the Database
6. Change the Drive Letter in the Database
7. Done!

But when I start MM I still have files greyed and path looks like this:

[]\MUSIQUE\etc...

Then I read about this:
b. A network path is mapped to a drive letter (e.g. J:). In some cases, this will not

work correctly because mapped drives do not return Partition Serial Numbers

correctly. The solution is to use:

\\ip _address\path (always works)

\\computer_name\path (often works)
But not sure where I should put \\ip _address\path ? How can I change it for all my tracks ?? any idea ?

Thanks in advance

which was suggested in the other topic is what you need.

If you have trouble using http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... =2&t=63823 then ask in the addons topic. In either case if you use Locate Moved/Missing Files (http://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index.p ... sing_Files) or the addon you need to tell it to look in \\ip _address\path (ie. \\192.168.123.2\Music\) or \\computer_name\path (ie \\NASName\Music\).

I used http://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index.p ... sing_Files

After going through my music I still have a lot of albums that are with wrong paths :/

A bit lost now... the add on Backup doesn't allow to choose where is the new path if I am not mistaken...

That doesn't do anything with tags, it just finds the files in the new location.
