Database

Post by gernot08 »

Hello,
something with my database seems to be wrong.
After I start MM, files I just played or played in the last days show last play date months ago and playcount isn't updated as well.
When I close MM it shows playcounts for Today and correct time and after starting MM again playstats for some files are reverted to older dates.
Also some other settings are reverted, like toolbars not showing up or MonkeyRok not showing up on startup.
I have tried to reinstall Media Monkey but nothings changes.
I use 4.0.7.1511

Could be the mmdb file is marked as read only? Look at the file's properties and see, if it is then uncheck the setting, if not then back out of the folder and check that folder's properties to see if it and the files inside it are marked read only.
Do that for every folder in the directory path from c drive to mmdb file.

If none of the folders are read only, then open mm and on the files menu there is a maintance link you want to run that maintain library link and see if that fixes it.

After all that come back here and let us know what happened. Might need fixed in mm's code. 8)

Are you playing files from the My Computer node or from outside MediaMonkey? (ie. not from Library nodes like Music, Classical Music or Playlists?). Also is your system time set correctly? Could day/month switching be a problem?

Files are not read only, Folders however, are. If I change the folders properties and uncheck read olnly, it's back to read only when I check the properties next time.
I do a db maintenance frequently, even tried to reinstall MM, nothing changes.

I play files from within MM only, and sync Iphone and Ipod via itunes4.dll.

Hapens again from yesterday to today. Some of the files I played are back to the previous date, MonkeyRok doesn't show at startup (it is checked in the view menu).

If I check the file with "Add/Remove Playstats" und Remove history plays the play date from yesterday is shown there.

I still suspect the folders are blocking their content also with that read only, unless they are in fact affected by a noncompat script,? But i dont have any idea as to which is turning the setting on, have you installed any tweaking programs that might have messed with windows permissions? Tweaking.com just updated their windows repair program it includes some for fixing permissions and for fixing the malware messed up permissions, you might want to see if that can fix it, or run through the tweaks you have and see if any you set did it, not to say you caused it but it is a thing that can just happen i just found a tweak i did 9 months ago was causing me troubles with permissions it took me that long to test everything in my system that might have caused it, sure enough i set the tweak and messed up my stuff, so it is a pain in the butt to check and double check, even if it wasn't systems fault. But the tweak i set had nothing to do with the area of permissions, it just caused a mess.
So you could have same type of thing going on.

Thanks for all the suggestions, nothing helps.

I have no tweaks or dubious programs installed.
Tried tweaking.com anyway.
The read only for windows 7 user folders is normal windows behaviour as I found out.
The files in the folders can be changed and MM does change the mm.db file on closing ow while it is running.

I would start from scratch, remove MM completely and start over again, but don't want to loose my playcounts.
Is there any way to save and restore them?

it seems to happen only after the use of d_itunes4.dll.
Playeda couple of songs, closd MM, restarted the computer and opened MM, all the playstats where correct.
After syncing d_itunes4.dll to itunes, closed MM, playdates on 4 songs back to an older date.

Then you should check the settings as maybe you have set it to overwrite MM play history with iTunes playhistory (don't know, haven't used this Addon). Ask for help with it here: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... t=d_itunes
