Default settings when ripping CDs

Default settings when ripping CDs
After following previous recommendations for handling Duplicates and overly long filenames are highlighted. Please edit them,
changes made it more difficult and currently unable to rip CDs.
Current settings on rip window is as follows:
C:\My Music\<Album Artist><Album>
Tracks to be ripped: Destination: "Duplicates and overly long filenames are highlighted. Please edit them."
Need help and default settings which were better than when I followed recommendations to limit to 32 characters.
Also is there a call line for several issues I have not been able to find answers for? Finding answers is very tortuous.

Re: Default settings when ripping CDs
That Mask results in duplicates as you have no unique value per track.
C:\My Music\<Album Artist><Album>\<Track#> - <Title>
will work better, if long names are a problem you can limit:
C:\My Music\$Left(<Album Artist>,50)\$Left(<Album>,50)\<Track#> - $Left(<Title>,50)
The max the full Path should be is 255 characters.

Re: Default settings when ripping CDs
Thank you very much.
Can you rip directly into a play list? Rip comes up in recently added and then I transfer into the playlist.

Re: Default settings when ripping CDs
No, but once files are ripped you can add files into any Playlist you wish.
If you're using AutoPlaylists any Ripped files that match the AutoPlaylist Criteria would automatically be on the AutoPlaylist after Ripping them.

Re: Default settings when ripping CDs
Very helpful. This is new and more complicated than IiTunes but I have lost much on corrupted iTunes over the years and am fed up with it. This seems netter and hopefully more reliable.
You are very helpful and much appreciated.

Re: Default settings when ripping CDs
Suddenly when ripping CDs, MediaMonkey is unable to identify certain classical albums. What can I do to correct this identification problem?
Re: Default settings when ripping CDs
Are you using Freedb or MusicBrainz for the lookup?

Re: Default settings when ripping CDs
Both without success. This is rare but a pain. Probably more obscure CDs not in their data base. Is there a classical base?
Re: Default settings when ripping CDs
These are the only 2 options available and Freedb is no longer updated.

Re: Default settings when ripping CDs
So MusicBrainz would be the preferred but imperfect choice?
Re: Default settings when ripping CDs
And thank you for your help.

Yes, I use MusicBrainz.

Re: Default settings when ripping CDs
How do i get MM to use MusicBrainz instead of freedb ?
Re: Default settings when ripping CDs
Check freedb network settings in the MediaMonkey Options. You should be able to change to MusicBrainz there.
