Can't find CD in freedb

Post by msfox99 »

Hi,

This is the first time ever that MM couldn't find an entry for a CD in freedb, and I have ripped more than 500 discs. This CD came out Aug 30, 2019. Is this unusual? Would I expect it to be added at some point? Is there a way that I can add it?

Gregg Allman - Laid Back - 2 CD remastered.

Thanks.

No, this is not uncommon. Freedb is user submitted and tied to a specific pressing of a CD.

When that fails for me, I proceed with ripping anyways, which will give you untagged files. I rip them in a spearate folder. Then, I use MP3tag to look up tags for the files. It connects to other databases, including amazon, and discogs. I have yet to find a CD it hasn't recognized. Maybe it happened once with some real indie band. MP3tag will also let you rename the file itself based on the database info... Good stuff.
