Autoplaylist: Keep playing order from parent playlist

Post by Snofru »

An autoplaylist can depend on another playlist. E.g. I have a parent playlist that includes all music from an artist. Now 'd like to create an autoplaylist that contains all this music when it has more than 3 stars. But when I do this most of the time (not always!) the music is in a kind of random order. Is there a way to have it in the same order as the original playlist?
Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be an option to sort by #.

No, there are lots of sort options, but not on # from another Playlist.

I feared you would say that...

I played a little bit around whether the order of autoplaylist settings makes a difference but it doesn't :( .

The order of songs in playlists is a major point imho. No idea for a workaround for this?

Thank you Erwin for putting thought into this, but what I am looking for is an Autoplaylist. The idea is to only change one parent playlist and then automatically have the playlists with the other minimum ratings.

Hello Snofru,
No idea for a workaround for this?
Yes, my workaround is this:
I would like to explain my picture again: let's say my playlist shown is called "FAV"
Well, you want to "remove" the 3-star files in Playlist "FAV". That wasn't mentioned in your first topic.
New-Auto-Playlist does not remove any entries from the source playlist "FAV".

1. Create a new normal playlist named: "3-Star"
2. Select playlist "FAV" and mark 3 stars using the column browser.
3. Mark all files in the detail area and send to playlist "3-Star"
4. Remove the marked 3 star files from "FAV" (only from playlist)
5. Click on playlist "FAV" again - then automatically have the playlist with the other minimum ratings.

Well - seems I haven't made my intentions clear.

What I currently do:

I collect a playlist with all songs from an artist and sort the songs to my liking. Then I create another playlist from the same artist, in the same order, but only songs with a rating of 2 stars or more, then another playlist with minimum rating of 3 stars etc. When I later add more songs from the same artist I have to add these manually to all the playlists.

What I'd like to do:

When adding new songs to the 1st playlist I'd like to have the 2 star, 3 star, 4 star etc. playlists to automatically update to the changes to the 1st playlist. This is possible as I can create an autoplaylist that contains playlist 1 combined with a minimum star rating. Unfortunately that changes the order of the songs (I don't know why) in most of the cases. I'd like to have the songs of all playlists in the same order and there seems to be no way to have this automated.
