Moving MM files from PC to Freenas without losing file data

Post by tmf »

Hi,

I currently have a PC with multiple drives containing my entire music collection. I have been using MM (currently on MM v4.1.29.1910) for quite a few years with this setup and it works great but I'm now out of space and there is no room to add more drives. To create a larger storage space, I've setup a Freenas server using an old PC. All music files have been copied to the Freenas PC and all seems to be working well between Windows 10 Pro and Freenas so far. I used the exact same folder names and setup as before, only now they are on one large shared drive (R:) instead of their old drives, which were D:, E; & F:. The new shared R: drive is a Freenas dataset named Audio.

My question is: How can I keep my existing MM database and all of it's data and have MM use the files on the Freenas PC instead of my current PC? I've added a lot of info to the MM DB over the years and don't want to lose any of it.

Seems like many years ago I remember reading about a procedure to swap file locations or drives so MM points to the new location instead of the old without losing any data? Now I can't seem to find anything about that and also haven't found anything from searching this forum or the help files. I should probably know all this using MM for so long, but unfortunately I do not.

Any help or suggestions appreciated!

Thanks

Thanks, I'll go give this one a try, sounds like it's just what I am looking for. Could be the one I was thinking of from long ago too?
Also, I use Zvezdan's RegExp Find & Repl add on and it's it a great addition to MM.
