Re: Story Songs

I recall a marty (stuart).. a Country/Bluegrass/Honky Tonk type singer, he does a song called 'Little Things".
(i have that song)

But i might have to cheat on the Story Song Album cuz I don't know that 1 :D
if it's the same Stewart/Stuart....I'll have to check it out
I think mostly all story songs have thier roots from Country. It's amazing they kept the campfire going with a buncha cowboys all singing and crying a story. (flood of tears)

I'll give ya my e mail cuz yeh I'd like to have that song. I knew the story and know I've heard it from grandma's HI-FI.

That I didn't know about him, although i like ALL types of music my knowledge and collection is mostly of Top 100 hits that span usually between 1960 to Present.
Other than the song I mentioned by him I have maybe 3 other songs he did.
My 1st album ever was a Cowboy western album. (can't remember the name exactly) it had a boy in pajamas on the cover watching western shows on TV.

And my 1st ever 45 single was Click Clack, by Dicky Do and the Don'ts :D ha I played that thing till the grooves wore out.

that image you said is normaly used for western tv show themes or songs in western tv shows. but that has been dropped
from use anymore they kind of now change the cover art on every album.

never heard that song of yours.?

must be a kids song, like the ones i have by the play hour singers. or peterpan chior 45's.

you missed out on some of the best songs when you only got the top hits. i got tons of songs that should have
been in the top 5 charts but never were from the albums got just for the top 10 song of the artist it was made for.
like take marty, hillbilly rock had lots of songs i like them all on that album plus his tempted album as well as a few others of his.

some artists you can't go wrong with. those are the ones you really like one or two of thier songs. you should buy some of their albums. waylon jennings was like that elvis was like that, hank williams Sr. was like that i got all hanks songs ever released. the beach boys the monkees the beatles and so on are others you should get albums of. but any artist you like one or two songs of you should get as many of their greatest hits albums you can find and afford.
i've always gone for any album that is titled greatest hits of the year, and some have been in series of the past 20 years to present. so you get tons of good songs from there too.

back to martys album it is called....

Ok I got 1 for you, or anyone who wants to guess.
I think you'll get this one cuz it is military based. Very popular I think 1960 or maybe even late 50's.
Ok the story is about a sea battle, and to quote some of the lyrics in the song, this particular battleship fired

"shells as big as trees"
and for the winner the prize is one copy of
Click Clack by Dicky Do and the Dont's :D

See what happens when you leave for awhile? I miss out on the whole contest. Gee, it wasn't a very long one thanks to Cowboy! :D

Okay Tosarge you got me on the last one I saw so here's my try. Name this song.

This story song has a terrific soundtrack. it's about a guy that enters a building that ends up being like a roach motel, you know the commercial, "they check in but they never check out."

I give up on the nursery one, London Bridge is the only thing british I could think of. :(

And Lightbee......I'm gonna guess Hotel California by the Eagles,
because of the line in the song.

well nobody else thought to try. guess they don't like name that song?

but here is the answer for you tosarge.

Doctor Fell
by
The London Rhymers and Players

lyrics are
" I do not like the doctor
{(stress this word) Fell !} the reason why i can not tell, but this i know and awlfull well,
I do not like the doctor
{(stress this word) Fell !} "

the music is that of it sounds like a clarinet? its the one that is mostly use to make the sound used for kids movies of
a waddling goose. the music even sounds like that.

its only 25 seconds long short but not the very shortest song there is. i got one shorter yet.
the one i'm thinking of is not really a story song but its hard to make it a story in 14 seconds?
title is bolded and lyrics- "This is the shortest song in the world " time - 14 seconds, Artist - Kenny Price,

:D ha that's funny, I actually looked that 1 up. funny thing is that he had help writing that song. Lyrics By: Ronny Light and Kenny Price :D
Imagine if all songs were that long, you could have a Mega library and little disk space.

Ok I got a new one , might be tuff one.
There were 2 very popular songs about Mining Cave-Ins, one was in 1967 by the Bee Gees
The New York Mining Disaster 1941
. In that story we never really got the outcome/ending as to what happened with the miners that were trapped. The song just told of the miners coping with the wait of being found.

In this story song 1971....told about 3 miners trapped in a cave-in with food enough for only 2...they were rescued BUT only 2 miners were pulled out and the 3rd wasn't there?..He was cannabilized.
what was this story song?
