I need your suggestion how to shorten the name of the "Create a new child folder with a date/time..." control, so that it could get some space for a new check box "Once a day".
nynaevelan wrote:When you use the manual method, does it also create the dated folder??
No, the dated folders are only created during automatic export.

Change it to "Create a new child folder with a date" or "Create a new dated child folder" or "Create a new Timestamped child folder"

Sorry, the caffeine had not kicked in yet, I figured this one out on my own. BTW, I am content with the way it is, manually the user can select the appropriate folder.

Sorry, but I already named it "Create new child folder with a dated name" because it has optimal length with aligned check boxes ;) Thanks anyway.

Just one more thing. The new option Once in a day would be effective only if you choose On startup, On shutdown or Every xx minutes. So, the question is - if you choose that option and for example On startup, should I overwrite playlists every time when you restart the program during one day, or just leave the first saved copy?

I would prefer just keep the first saved copy. If necessary the manual export can be used to overwrite.

Hey,

Your script looks like exactly what I've been looking for, but I have an issue with it - it gives me a "Library Not Registered" error, and then proceeds to give a generic error over and over until I uninstall it.

The exact messages are as follows:

Upon first installation, 2 windows appear. The first is, ["Error". Error #-2147319779. File: "C:\PROGRA~2\MEDIAM~1\Scripts\Auto\ExportM3UsForSubNodes.vbs", Line: 102, Column: 4.] Then, right after, it says, ["MediaMonkey Title". Library not registered.]

The generic error that appears afterward is, ["Error". Error executing script event.]

Help?

Thanks for the report. I am not sure what is exactly happening to you, but I think that you have a generic problem with the scripting engine. Have you installed some another script for MediaMonkey, e.g. Magic Nodes or RegExp Find & Replace? If you have same problem with mentioned scripts, then your scripting engine is broken. You could try with the following suggestions:
Script Error: ActiveX component can't create object
Extensions Cannot be Installed
Error message: 'A script for the specified language can not be created'

If none of this could help, you could try with the suggestion from the page Automation server can't create object:

1. open regedit
2. find key HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT -> Scripting.Dictionary
3. right click and go permissions, ignore all the errors
4. go to advanced under the permissions, and set the owner of the object to the Administrators GROUP
5. apply and ok till the window closes
6. right click the key again and go permissions
7. grant system all permissions...
8. ok apply and ok till the window closes
9. make sure the key is selected
10. refresh (F5 or via menu)
11. repeat steps 3 to 10 on the sub key

Please let me know if any of this could help.

Hello I have used this script to create m3u/playlists Based on my folder structure.

My Library is currently organized in the following structure:

d:\music\<genre>\<album artist>\<album>

I got the results I was looking for, now I have playlists for each genre, album artist, and album. I would like these playlists to save in the parent folders not sure if Im saying that right. But whay I would like to do is for the folder "Rock" save the playlist named "Rock" in it.

Thank you

Did you use the Export .M3Us or Create Playlists for Child Nodes option? If you used Create Playlists, why didn't you use the Export .M3Us option directly? If you used Export M3Us option, where did you save your .m3u files? Did you try to specify d:\music as a root folder for the Export .M3Us for Child Nodes option?

I used export and saved them in d:\music the result is d:\music\music. Meaning that it adds a child folder named music in the parent folder music. Under that child my folder structure is recreated and the playlists are dropped in to those folders. An example would be:

Before Playlist Export:

d:\music\<genre>

After Playlist Export:

D:\Music\Music\<genre>\<album Artist>

So whats happening here is that when I export And Select the Folder to export to which is D:\Music An New folder is being created under music (d:\music\music) In the new music Subdir the playlists are saving there with the same structure as my music library rather than saving in my original directories. I have tried using d:\ as the save location and it works better but the playlists are not being stored in the folder but the level above. I hope this clear enough.

There is a new update of the script which has added option that you need: v2.8 - 2009-08-25
- Added: option to save .m3u files in child folders, i.e. one level more in depth (until now they are saved to parent folders only).

By the way, most probably you should turn off the Export the playlist for the selected node as well option.
