1. close MM if it is opened;
2. rename current (active) MM.DB file to e.g. MM.new;
3. copy backup file to the same location as the current MM.DB file;
4. start MM and verify it;
5. close MM, delete MM.DB and rename MM.new to MM.DB.

Are you absolutely sure about that? I think that I have removed that problem: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... 38#p268838

Yup. For some reason, some autoplaylists still don't update correctly (most do however). They either have a blank album or the incorrect album. I'm still in the mid-process of reinstalling MM4, so I could try again & send you the .db if you're interested.

I don't understand how playlists could have blank album. Yes, I am interested to try to reproduce that problem.

I did that, and realized that this solves my problem completely.
Sorry, but I won't be testing the Playlist import script now...

Thanks for the report. There is the new release: v2.1.2 - 2011-11-15
* Fixed: auto-playlists with the condition: Album "equal/doesn't equal" ..., when backup is not a copy of the current database.

Could you upload your backup and current database files, so I could try to reproduce that problem?
Sorry for the late answer.
I think this happened because I had just started a db recreation with the same options activated, auto-organizing included, but I didn't notice it was set differently! So I think it didn't found matches due to a mass file naming change. Anyway I solved restoring my old db back, saving my playlists (re-matching every track myself), deleting old db, made mm recreate a new one and just import the just-saved playlists.
Thanks for your help and sorry for bothering, it was my fault quite surely :wink:

I love this addon!! It came in so handy during all the MM4 beta testing. I had to start from scratch several times and I have LOTS of playlists (especially auto-playlists) that I didn't want to lose. This does a great job, but the "Playlist in Main Window" addon won't display playlist details for playlists that have been restored. Songs newly added to the playlists after being restored won't display either.

If you are building the database from the scratch then you could choose the "Clear Playlists and PlaylistSongs tables before restoring data" option and in that case I think you wouldn't have that problem with the mentioned add-on. However, both Static playlists and Auto-playlists should be selected for restoration and you need to have installed the latest version of this add-on (2.1.2).

I am not sure that understand what you want to say. Songs added to the playlists should be displayed as usual. If you are still talking about the "Playlist in Main Window" add-on, then it is another problem which, I suppose, wouldn't exist if you apply the previous suggestion.

I tried your suggestion on my existing database by restoring playlist table with auto and static playlists selected and the Playlistsinmainwindow script still will not update on any of the imported playlists from the script, it will only update on new playlists created natively in MM.

Well, then you should ask Bex about it since I don't use his add-on, neither I know how it works internally. Doesn't his script have some Refresh or Update option or something like that? Maybe you should try to re-install his script after restoring playlists with this add-on - in that case his script shouldn't/couldn't differentiate the restored playlists from the newly created ones.

I have posted a few times on Bex's thread, since October, but he doesn't appear to have been there for quite some time.

Yes it does have an update function. Have tried all those kinds of things but still not luck. It's very strange.

Same here, I think I will reinstall MM3 and do some tests with the two scripts there to see if maybe this is something that is MM4 related, maybe something changed and that is why his script is not seeing the previous playlists. I do know he said a while back that he is very busy at work and he doesn't know when he will be able to update his scripts for MM4.
