FYI:
The new PUID generation service is still off-line as of now(8/3).
This means that "Pending" PUIDs stay pending and impacts e.g. new album releases.

This service has been offline since sometime between 6/18 & 6/23.

Status can be checked at.

Really new to all this stuff (as I can see lots of other are too) but can you please explain the difference between this script and MusicIPTagger?

Apologies if this is a naive question.

This one works in batch to calculate the PUID of all selected tracks, the tagger script uses the PUID to get metadata for the track. The tagger script also performs the GUID generation if it needs to, but this script can do that first, which will speed up the tagging. You can also use the PUID for duplicate checking, etc.

Great script trix (once again!). I have one small foible with it:

When running, it stops the ability to use keyboard shortcuts (most notably Ctrl-Enter to access Properties). Is this intended?

I've tried but I can't seem to fix this. I think it's something to do with the internal threading of MM, unfortunately.

Eh, no worries. Still in the process of running all 32k+ songs, and it's getting the job done for the most part, so thanks!

Hello Trixmoto

I tried running this script for the first time 5 minutes ago.
But I got an error message:

"l'entrée dépasse la fin du fichier"
means approximatively:
"input past end of file"

When you get this error, can you please upload "%TEMP%\PUID.xml"?

Thanks for the file, which is totally empty. I'll have to add a check for this in the next version.

Hello Trix.

No more "input past end of file" error.

But this one instead:

This means that either the OS or some antivirus software or something is stopping this script from deleting the "PUID.xml" file from the temporary folder.
