It appears to be installed, the on/off button changes color, it says 'synchronizing playlist', BUT it really is not communicating w/ the Sqzbox.

Of course, it all worked perfectly fine on the old, VERY SLOW PC.

HELP!

Thanks

G'day jrstutz

I have Win8.1 on a tablet with MM and MonkeySqueeze installed and working with no problems (Apart from being a little slowwww  ).

If the button changes to cyan and no tracks show in LMS/Squeezebox device then there is an addressing issue. Check the addresses (IP and MAC) on the Options page. You may have to use network addressing rather than mapped addressing if using LMS on a Server. Read the instructions again and look at the trouble shooting guide.

Keep me informed

I have not been able to get MonkeySqueeze to cooperate - not w/ the LMS IP or the 127.0.0.1 IP
Might it be an installation [not Administrator] or Windows Firewall problem?

G'day Joe

Certainly try an Admin install, it can't hurt. Haven't heard of any problems with Windows Firewall, disable it for a short time and see what happens (disconnect from internet while doing this). There have been issues concerning McAfee however. View post here:

Failing all that you can PM me with your options page info.

Hi,
I installed this last week because i'm so tired of LMS, but this actuall gives me too much.
My Logitech Squeezebox goes bezerk, and does'nt nothing but complains that the playlist is full. It's not possible to get it to play anything.
I have looked but not found any setting for this script to ONLY serve the playlists and nothing else, is there such a setting?
If not i think it would be great!

Your description of the problem is lacking a little detail :-?. MonkeySqueeze when activated will only send the addressess of the songs in the "Now Playing" window to the Squeezebox system. Reduce the number of songs in the window or use the Auto-DJ function and set maintain and retain to low values e.g. 5 for maintain and 10 for retain.

Does this add-on still have support? I don't have a NAS but have my files on a mapped network drive. Does it not work with a mapped network drive - I'm sure all settings are correct.

Yep it sure does have support :), mind you it hasn't been needed for quite a while.

Yes it will work with a mapped drive or just the straight network address. You will have to give me some more info if I am to help, such as: your settings in the MonkeySqueeze options page; what is the mapped drive - a server, another PC; is the operating system linked to the mapped drive Linux or Windows.

Thanks!

I have used it before and had it working on a setup almost identical to this one. I'm sure the only difference was the mapped drive.

I have my files on a PC which also has LMS. The files are part of a network so I can access via my laptop - \\HOME\Collection. This laptop has MM installed and I have mapped this network drive as M:\

I have a squeezebox touch and the MonkeySqueeze settings are taken directly from the LMS web page.
IP address 192.168.1.124 port 9000

MAC 00:04:20:22:bb:17

If I enable MonkeySqueeze I get the 'synchronizing playlists' notification but the 'Now Playing' on the Touch is 'empty'. If I have somehting already playing this is cancelled and the playlist cleared.

I have installed MonkeySqueeze as an admin and unticked the 'this user' option.
I have restarted LMS.

I think that's everything I can think of.

Any ideas are most welcome!

EDIT 1: All machines are running windows 8

EDIT 2: The server log states: [15-04-03 19:06:01.6505] Slim::Networking::UPnP::ControlPoint::_gotError (289) Error retrieving device description: 401 Unauthorized

Don't know if that means anything?

The good news is this is just a simple addressing conflict between the MediaMonkey and LMS music folders, so it shouldn't take too long to fix. The addresses can be in different formats e.g.local, network, Linux, Windows etc... however both addresses must point to the same folder where the music is stored.

The mapped address M:\ appears to lack the destination folder i.e.: M:\Collection so modify the MediaMonkey address in the options page. Alternatively don't use the mapped address and use the network address (\\HOME\Collection) for the MediaMonkey music folder. If you do this you will have to rescan the music folder in MediaMonkey to the new address and place \\HOME\Collection in the MediaMonkey Music Folder: on the options page.

p.s. You may want to edit your previous post and XXXX out your mac address

Thanks. The folder (\\HOME\Collection) is the mapped drive M:\ so I don't think M:\Collection will work. Won't it refer to \\HOME\Collection\Collection which does not exist? I guess Ill have to go back to \\HOME\Collection which I used before. But if I remember rightly every time I played a track via MonkeySqueeze the LMS overnight rescan added a "new" file which appeared to be in a mapped drive, that's why I thought I'd go for the mapped approach.

PS I'd changed the MAC address before I posted it, but I'm interested in why it would be a bad thing to post the real one.

I can assure you that your issue is different addresses between MM and LMS on the MS options page, both must point to the same location. If that does not happen then you will experience your current predicament.

I'm presuming the LMS address is correct because it is displayed on the LMS > Settings > Basic Settings page. Double check the music folder address in MM by selecting the Path column in the main window, that is the address that needs to be placed in the options page.

Did you try my suggestion of M:\Collection?

I do possibly remember something about an issue like this - It will take time to investigate.

Posting your real MAC address could in theory potentially create a security risk for your system, however in practice that risk is very very low. Having said that, it is good practice not to post the real MAC address and do what you did initially, posting a false one.

Monkeysqueeze and Music Library

Post by oeyoeve »

Hi All,

My wish is to be able to use MonkeySqueeze to play my mp3 files on my various Slimdevices (Squeezeboxes) even if those files are not located in my LMS library.
Is that possible?

Hi Viking

Please read the following section from the MonkeySqueeze User Guide which give you the ino you require:

"Music/Media Folders

The Music Folders (Media Folders in LMS) are the folders that contain the music files and it usual for MediaMonkey and LMS to each access the same music folders. When communicating with LMS on a NAS, MonkeySqueeze only supports one media folder in LMS and one music folder in MediaMonkey. Future versions will see this number increased.
The music folder(s) can be located on a PC, an external usb drive, a server or NAS device.

If you wish to only have MediaMonkey manage the music library, then the LMS Media Folder must be directed to look at an empty folder on the PC where LMS is installed. This can only be done with the PC version of LMS and not LMS on a server or NAS. This is a good option for people who have a second Squeezebox Server running on a NAS and the device will not communicate with MonkeySqueeze. If you have a NAS with LMS installed and have a PC version running at the same time, make sure the Music Library Name is different on each server."

Cheers
