I downloaded MonkeySqueeze but it wasn't until I installed it and read the help file that I realized it wasn't suited to my present configuration and utilization.
I'm running SqueezeBox Server from a Synology NAS and using iPeng. I'm happy with my present arrangement but I'm tempted to install SBS on my Windows 7 box to test MonkeySqueeze. I'll reply back in this thread with my thoughts if I take the plunge
MonkeySqueeze should work with your current set-up, what are concerns or issues preventing you from trying it?

Hi,

I have installed MonkeySqueeze.
OS: windows 8.1 64bit
LMS version 7.7.5
MediaMonkey version 4.1.11.1783

Unfortunately i get the two following error messages when trying to enable MonkeySqeeze:

First:
Error #.2147012891.
file: "C\Users\A----\AppData\Roaming\MediaMonkey\Scripts\Auto\MonkeySqueeze.vbs".Line:537.Column:2

Then:
Error happened during script execution:
OLE error 80072EES

Any help would be appreciated.
Would love to get this working as it seems a great app.

Thanks

Hello Tony

Have never seen this error before. I'm using the same versions of LMS and MediaMonkey (on Win 10) without any issues. The error is pointing to a comms issue with LMS.

1. Reboot the PC if you haven't since installing MediaMonkey/MonkeySqueeze
2. Uninstall/reinstall MonkeySqueeze
3. If you use Password Protection, disable it in LMS and MonkeySqueeze and try again
4. Where is LMS installed? The same PC as MediaMonkey, NAS, server, etc...
5. What type of Squeezebox Player are you attempting to connect to? Boom, Touch etc...

Let me know how you get on.

Hi Gingernut,

I tried to reinstall MonkeySqueeze but still got the same error messages.
LMS is installed on the same computer as MM.
The computer is a standalone - no intranet.
The player is a SqueezeBox Classic.

I wonder what "Line:537.Column:2" could refer to.

Any ideas?

This appears to be a handshake issue, the Squeezebox Classic may not work with MonkeySqueeze. :(

To confirm, install the software based player SqueezePlay (link below) on the PC, and then run and link it to the LMS music library. Go to LMS Web Page > Settings > Information and place the SqueezePlay MAC Address in the MediaMonkey > Options > MonkeySqueeze > Squeezebox Player Settings (Player 2?). Select the player, and then enable MonkeySqueeze and see what happens... :-?

https://storage.googleapis.com/google-c ... .0r328.exe

If SqueezePlay connects and plays music then the Classic will not work with MonkeySqueeze. If the same issues occur with SqueezePlay then we have other issues to address.

Have fun

Hi,
I installed SqeezePlay but, using the SqeezeBox Classic, it only worked between my basic music folder and SMP but I could not get it to connect to MM via MediaSqueeze .

Bearing in mind your remarks I then tried to connect onto a SqueezBox Radio and that did communicate with MediaMonkey via MediaSqueeze.

So your assumption that it is a handshaking problem seems to be validated. It remains a pity that I cannot access my MediaMonkey music library with the SqueezeBox Classic and play it through my HiFi system.

Thanks anyway for your input.

After doing some more research I've found that the Squeezebox Boom is based on the same architecture as the Classic. The Boom works with MonkeySqueeze, so there may be hope yet, although the signs aren't promising. It's a pity I don't have a Classic available to test. :(

There are now numerous 3rd party options to use as Squeezebox players, some providing the best digital audio conversion available. Have you thought of using a Raspberry Pi and a third party DAC? This is a low cost solution to link the Squeezebox system with your HiFi. This (headless) unit is easy to configure and is similar to a Duet with potentially a better DAC (depending on your choice). Links below, however a quick Internet search will reveal a lot more.

Hi GingerNut,

My major need for MonkeySqueeze was to be able to view and select "songs" to play via the SqueezeBox over the HiFi system.

My music collection consists of about 4000 FLAC "songs" with messed up metadata. Titles, artists, albums, composers all being mixed up, it was just painful to set up a playlist using the LMS interface.

MediaMonkey allowed me to reorganise this metadata quite efficiently without having to do so file by file. MS saves these modifications in a cache file somewhere but I could not find a way to backward covert the original FLAC files. Hence my interest in MonkeySqueeze which would obviate this need.

MS not working with SqueezeBox Classic, I looked further and then found that MM Gold does allow to backward synchronize the metadata so I upgraded and now have a well organised collection -problem solved.

This being said, the Raspberry Pi suggestion sounds intriguing and I may look at that one day, but that would be another story.

Bye for now.

Great work on this. Loving having something better than the web interface to control my players.

I just installed MonkeySqueeze on MediaMonkey 4.1.18.1853. When I enable MonkeySqueeze I get the following errors.

Error #-2147012891 -
Files "C:\Users\Donald\AppData\Roaming\MediaMonkey\Scripts\AutoMonkeySqueeze.vbs", Line: 736, Column: 1

Error executing script event.
OLE error 80072EE5

MM is installed on Windows 10. LMS is installed on a Windows 2012 R2 server.

Any Ideas?
