Discogs Tagger: Search for clipboard value?

Post by chrisdukes »

Basically, before I tag an album, I look it up in Discogs, choose the right release, then I add it to my collection. I would like to copy the Release ID and have Discogs Tagger automatically search for the Release ID in my clipboard.

Thanks!

Or, is there a way to stop Discogs Tagger from searching at launch and make it wait for a manual trigger?

This feature is already implemented.
If you paste the Release ID in the upper Dropdown-Field, Discogs Tagger load the release.

No, sorry, it always take the artist, album and first song name and search for it.

I wish I would have noticed this a long time ago, but it seems like the tagger is using the Album Name for the Series tag. Even when there is an actual Series entered in Discogs, the Album Name seems to override that.

Can you make the tagger actually record the Series (when it exists in Discogs), if not, how do I disable the tagger from populating the Series tag?

The tagger don't use the Series tag. Maybe the Series tag is the same as the Album tag? The Series tag belongs to Video files and the Album tag to Music files.

I've been using this and it works great! I just copy the ID and discogs and paste it into the Tagger and the release pops right up. But, this really goes back to my earlier post about the Tagger taking at least 10 seconds to load. I went to Tools -> Options -> Discogs Tagger -> Limit amount of releases as you suggested and I set it to 50, the lowest number, but it still takes awhile to open.

Is there anything else I can do?

No, sorry, there is no other way to speed up the Tagger.

The more songs there are on the album with a lot of information, the more time is needed to fetch them.

Hi,
first of all thanks for the your dedication to this great project.
I just noticed the discogs "Style" tag is not mapped any more.
I used to map this tag to "Custom 1" tag, is there anyway I could automatically map the discogs "genre" tag to "custom 1" MM tag? Without having to move the info manually after tagging.

Cheers

Hi,

i put the genre and style tag together and drop the option to store the style tag in another tag field.
I'm sorry, but there is no way to automatically map the genre/style tag to "custom 1" tag. :(

I cannot move to MM5 because this incredible addon is missing. I cannot imagine how much work it is to maintain. I would most gladly pay for your Discogs addons. They are of incredible value to me. Many, many thanks!!

Hi, I have been using Discogs tagger successfully for years but very recently kept getting "You are making requests too quickly"., which didn't make any sense to me, unless lots of users share a key?

Tried various fixes without success. I have now (maybe foolishly?) deauthorised Discogs Tagger in Discogs control panel and deleted my token. Now when I try to authorise the newly reinstalled extension I get:

OAuth client error
Error: it was not possible to access the OAuth request token: it was returned an unexpected response status 429 Response: {"message":"You are making requests too quickly."} (from https: // www germanc64 de /mm/oauth/oauth_guid.php?f=.....)

Is it possible that Discogs may have blocked me? I haven't been making any more requests than usual.

Any pointers as to what to try next? I would like to get this great utility working again. Thanks

I started receiving the same error yesterday, 19 AUG 2021. As of today, I'm still receiving the error. Not sure if I've done something wrong or not.

UPDATE 19:40 UTC: I was able to resolve the problem.
1. Uninstalled extension Discogs Tagger 5.8.1 (choose to keep settings in order to retain existing Discogs Access Token)
2. Exited MediaMonkey (4.1.31.1919)
3. Launched fresh instance of MediaMonkey
4. Reinstalled extension for Discogs Tagger 5.8.1
5. Exited MediaMonkey
6. Select complete list of songs for different CD title, r-click "Auto-Tag from Web" and everything works perfectly :-)
