Erwin Hanzl says:
"update your MMA: last beta-version = 1.4.0.0931"

I have no idea how to do this on my Android phone. I have auto update turned on. When I go to the Play store, it says everything there is installed and current.

When I comb through the mma options, all I see is an option "Register for test builds." If that's where I'm supposed to go, I am very leery. I don't want to be a test bed because I depend on Media Monkey to produce a three hour radio show every week. I can't afford to get thrown off track with beta testing and related issues (and things like this damn sync bug).

I have been relishing the enhanced radio programming capabilities MediaMonkey gives me and grown dependent on it through many years of excellent use. But things are starting to look increasingly shaky and I need dependability.

Forget my hint.
You don't have to accept a suggestion.

Out of curiosity I synced an old SM-T800 Samsung Galaxy Tab S. Unlike my phone, all the of the same playlists synced perfectly.

It has the same mma version as my phone, 1.3.9.0924. But the OS is set to manually update and has Android 6.0.1 Kernel version 3.4.39-13786509, last updated Dec 28, 2018

The phone that will not sync playlists is SM-G960U1 last updated June 4, 2020 with software version G960U1UES7DTE1/G960U1OYM7DTE1.

So I'm back in business as long as I don't update my tablet before the sync bug gets fixed.

My playlists started syncing perfectly a few days ago. It may be just a coincidence, but the improvement came after I discovered my SSD boot drive was still using MBR. It was the only drive on my computer not using GPT (noticed while upgrading my HD data drive to an SSD). With the Win 10 utility mbr2gpt.exe, I easily converted the boot drive to GPT and switched the Gigabyte BIOS to UEFI only. Viola! I'm a happy camper.

Peke wrote: Tue Jul 28, 2020 7:48 pm Hi,
I am still not being able to replicate your problem. MMW controls how playlists are sent to MMA and do analyze sync list based on MMA request.

There was a bug with incomplete lists when special characters are used in filenames and it should be fixed in 1911 once it gets out.

I know you already supplied bunch logs and pictures, but it is very very strange that we can't replicate.

I sent you PM with more details.
I did not get that PM.

I just applied for the MMA beta version, see if that helps.

edit: installed the beta 1.4.1.0935. Problem still exists, no change.

@Pavle

@Onweerwolf
siehe mein obiges BILD 1) : hattest Du vor Erstellung der Playlisten die Option aktiviert?
http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... 5&start=30

Falls NEIN, folgende Lösung:
1. lösche in MMA nur die Wiedergabelisten
2. beende MMA
3. MM4: aktiviere wie in meinem Bild 1) "UTF-8 encoding"
4. MM4 neu starten
5. Erstelle eine neue LEERE Wiedergabeliste mit Namen "XYZ"
6. Klicke auf eine entsprechende "ALTE" Problem-Wiedergabeliste
7. markiere alle Inhalte
8. Senden an Wiedergabeliste "XYZ"
9. siehe mein obiges BILD 9) : VOR Synchronisierung mußt du diese Optionen aktivieren.
10. MM4 Neustart
11. SYNCHRONISIERE mittels WiFi

Falls der gleiche Fehler auftritt:
lösche in MMA nur die Wiedergabelisten und versuche USB-Kabel-SYNC (das ist wesentlich schneller)

Dein Ergebnis?

@Pavle
Thanks for that Pavle, we've discussed this.
I refuse to use the Team Viewer and Skype.
That is exactly why we could not do an analysis.

My description above is for USB cable sync.
The problem with Onweerwolf is either with "WiFi Sync", or what I think more, he uses playlist format WITHOUT "UTF-8 encoding". I had this problem too.

@Onweerwolf
see my PICTURE 1) above: did you activate the option before creating the playlists?
http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... 5&start=30

If NO, the following solution:
1. In MMA, delete only the playlists
2. Quit MMA
3. MM4: activate as in my picture 1) "UTF-8 encoding"
4. Restart the MM4
5. Create a new EMPTY playlist named "XYZ"
6. Click on an appropriate "OLD" problem playlist
7. mark all content
8. Send to playlist "XYZ"
9. See my PICTURE 9 above: BEFORE synchronization you have to activate these options.
10. MM4 restart
11. SYNCHRONIZE using WiFi

If the same error occurs:
in MMA just delete the playlists and try USB cable SYNC (this is much faster)

Your result?

Google-Translated, sorry

Sorry I forgot, I hope I will also never use TeamViewer again too many problems and few years back when they had data breach one client was ransomed to get his data back :( Skype I use for more than 15 years with no issues. Something is missing and was hoped that we can get to bottom of issue, but it is as it is and I completely understand.

This is not his topic though, he's just been hijacking it, and his problems seem different than mine, though similar. My problem however is not solved.

Your 'solutions' either don't work (the UTF8 thing makes no difference when flagged or not) or are not solutions at all (using a cable instead of wireless is just nonsense).

Hi,
Now you have a PM ;)

Re: [bug] Playlists don't update with the last changes when synced

by Onweerwolf
Problem still persists as of today.

Let me refocus on the problem, ignoring the noise from others in this thread:

I've established that new tracks to a playlist are updated to that playlist on MMA after the sync if these were downloaded to the device before the sync and if the playlist was actually changed on MMW between the new sync and the last sync.

So:

If Playlist X has tracks A,B,C and Playlist Y has track D and both of these are already correctly on the device running MMA then:

When I add track D and E to Playlist X and then sync, now the MMA version of Playlist X has tracks A,B,C,D but not E. -> D got added because it was already on the device since it was on Playlist Y but E was now downloaded to the device for the first time and therefor not added to Playlist X.

If I sync again without any playlist changes then E still does not get added to Playlist X.

If I add track F to Playlist X and sync again then F gets newly downloaded to the device, E now gets added to Playlist X on MMA but F does not.

So basically there seems to be a problem with the order in which checks are made.

So it seems like the MMA does everything correctly; updates the playlists, deletes obsolete tracks, downloads new tracks but then after that it kicks off any newly downloaded tracks to the device from playlists.

Hi,
Have you tried to initiate Second WiFi sync to se if F is added?
