Mounted storage issue [#17162]

I am on T-Mobile and I don't really use mp3 files much anymore. However, I did copy files from an old iPod I had storage it on my SD Card. I loved MediaMonkey used to use it on windows. I think I paid $10. Any way no issues with MM until today. I have a Galaxy S9 on T-Mobile running Android 9. I received an update from T-Mobile today now every time I start my phone I get this in notifications: MediaMonkey Mounted storage: /storage/26AA-18B1 Scan for updated media files?

How do I turn this off or rescan to make the app happy again? Thanks.

That's part of the Android update. You can cancel the scan though.

"Mounted storage: Scan for updated media files?" every time phone starts

Since I got a new phone (Android 8.0 Oreo), I am getting the following notification every time the phone starts...

Mounted storage: /storage/0000-0000
Scan for updated media files?

This never used to happen on previous phones.

Is this expected behavior? I can't see where to turn it off.

Is there a way to stop it popping up every time the phone turns on though? Or do I have to cancel the scan each time?

Hi,
First I am so sorry about so late reply, I am not sure how this have gotten under the radar.

It is strange that SDcard/USB OTG get "Mounted storage: /storage/0000-0000" as "0000-0000" Partition that do not have Serial and is not accessible to any app not just MM. Can you please share bit more details on device in question and do you see same error if you remove any SDCards from it?

OK it looks like storage reference has changed now from when I originally posted...

Mounted storage: /storage/69EB-5342
Scan for updated media files
?

Quickly tested without SD Card. Message did not appear. (Normally always pops up within 2 minutes of turning phone on).

Phone is a Samsung S7 SM-G930F, Android version 8.0.0
Completely stock, not rooted.

Hi,
That explains a lot, as there is a delay before OS mounts SDcard after system cold boot and that is why you get that prompt.

We are trying to address that, but ATM there is no viable solution to OS reporting new storage available to be determent if it is actually new storage or just re mounted old storage :( Thus you get option to postpone scan (especially useful for remounted storage where there was no change) or scan the mounted storage for new files.

We are hoping that these will be addressed in MMA 2.0

EDIT: That is why you have warning if you move App to SDcard you may not get notifications and service will not work due the fact that at time app gets notification or service gets started during bootup storage is not yet available (mounted) for access/usage.

OK, many thanks Peke.

So is the best solution just to disable notifications for Mediamonkey in the meantime?? I generally don't like to do that, but I'm not sure I have seen other notifications from the MMA app that especially important???

Hi tracked as

In the next build 1.4.2.939, the notification will not appear so often.

Hi,

Sorry for digging out this old thread but I have exactly the same issue with the current paid version of MMA. I switch off my smartphone during the night and then every time I re-start it in the morning I get this message asking "Scan for updated media files?"

The media files are on the SD card in the smartphone and changes are only made occasionally using MMW5. So, this message is a bit annoying or at least unnecessary. Afetr all, I can start scans manually within MMA, right? So, at least with MMA on my smartphone this issue is not resolved yet.

Hi,
Problem is that phone report SDcard as recently mounted so it triggers bot Google Music Scanner and MMA to check for upgrades :( It is system notification and only thing we can do is to possibly inctease time afte rPOSTPONE is selected to delay start of rescan :(

It happens same with me on my car head unit (Running Android 8 ), but not that often.
