MM5 has album artwork displayed - MMA does not

Post by TheEmpathicEar »

After doing a Add/Rescan in MM5... File Properties>Location has "D:\iPod\My Music\Gordon Lightfoot\[2002] [2002] Complete Greatest Hits\01 - Early Morning Rain.mp3" and File Name has "01 - Early Morning Rain.mp3". I checked this after Add/Rescan and "Remove Unavailable Files" wants to remove all the tracks in the album because of the dup in the Location? This is the first thing I need to solve.
There are many, many examples like this that were fine for some time and just popped up recently when I checked Album View in MMA. Album art in MM5, but not in MMA. This is my first clue.

Check Dead Links: https://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/WebHel ... Dead_Links

It will show all files MediaMonkey can't find on connected hard drives. If you have removed the files you can delete them from Dead Links, if they were moved you can locate them: https://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/WebHel ... sing_Files

There are a lot of these that I have found in MM5. i.e. As above, File Properties>Location has "D:\iPod\My Music\Gordon Lightfoot\[2002] [2002] Complete Greatest Hits\01 - Early Morning Rain.mp3" and File Name has "01 - Early Morning Rain.mp3 where the release year is listed twice. [I do have it in my setup to add [Release Year] as part of the album name displayed.
Would it be easier and more thorough to rebuild the database in MM5? I am bit confused about all of this. This started because of the missing album art in MMA

We don't know what you've done. Are you saying the Path is different between MM5 and File Explorer?

If you clear the Library you'll loose Play History and Playlists, so it's a drastic step: https://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/WebHel ... y_Database

One example:
MM5 has "D:\iPod\My Music\Gordon Lightfoot\[2002] [2002] Complete Greatest Hits\01 - Early Morning Rain.mp3" NOTE: 2 instances of "[2002]". Explorer has one instance of this.

Then I assume the files do show in Dead Links? And if so the previous suggestion of Locate Moved/Missing Files should help fix this.

I read the section for "Dead Links". I am still not sure if I should be deleting these link?

As said, you can select all files and use File > Locate Moved/Missing Files. DO make sure you verify any matches it makes before accepting them: https://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/WebHel ... sing_Files

What I need to do [in effect] is change these links so that they all have ONE instance of "[2002]". i.e. Neither the path or the File Explorer should be using TWO instances of this. Make sense?

Indicates it's fine in Explorer.

If both have double date and the Path in File Explorer and MediaMonkey match you can fix it with Auto-Organize Files: https://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/WebHel ... nize_Files

To be clear, Explorer path is correct with ONE instance of "[2002]" and MM5 path has TWO instances.

What I did is to move the artist/album from "My Music" to a backup location. In my MM5, I did a add/rescan. In MMA, I did "Sync Now". I moved the artist/album back to "My Music". In MM5, I did another add/rescan. In MMA, I did another "Sync Now". Now everything is as it should be both in MM5 and MMA. And, the album artwork now appears in MMA.
However, I still have a lot of missing album artwork in MMA that is displayed in MM5

I made a small change to one album in MM5. When I used "Sync Now" in MMA it was taking > 5 mins. So, I cancelled it. Started "Sync Now" again. This went very quickly, but did not fix the missing album art. So, I went back to MM5 and made another small change. But, this time when I used "Sync Now" in MMA, I just waited until it was finished. It took about 45 mins! This is the longest interval for me since I first bought this software last year sometime. It seemed to fix all my missing album art issues. But why?

It may have had to sync all your media files again as you modified them.
