You left a "b" out of your msg subject.
There is currently a BETA out. Have a look at the Beta forum.

@Anubis - the beta is for version 2.5.4 which is basically a bugfix of 2.5.3

I thought the next major version was going to be 2.6?

Currently the next release will be 2.5.4 which is a bug fix release.

The next mayor release will be 3.0 instead of the planned 2.6. This seems logic as the plans for 2.6 resulted in almost a new MediaMonkey.

There are no roadmaps available. No release date has been indicated for 2.5.4. 3.0 alpha/beta will probably be released in some months more (seems like that) and then the beta process might take a few months more. My guess would be that 3.0 might be born by the end of the year, but a later date into the new year wouldn't surprise me.

PS. This is just based on forum reads as I don't have any insides either.

I can generally speaking confirm this, MM 2.5.4 should be released very soon. We are also working on MM 3.0 and would like to start alpha testing soon (but it definitely won't be tomorrow... ;-) )

Big_Berny @ pah68... me too.
From what I have heard (snippets on the forum) it's going to be worth the wait.

What are the known new features of the 3.0 version?

You should read around the forum for feature promises for MediaMonkey 2.6 and 3.0, that should give you some ideas. Basically almost everything will be changed (the reason it's given the 3.0 version number). I'm not sure if there is any "new" features, it seems mostly to be improving on existing features.

Anyone know if our databases will be compatible with the new MM 3.0? Are we looking at losing our playlists, tag info, etc with the eventual upgrade?

I'm pretty sure that the developers will provide a smooth transitions from 2.x to 3.0.
