Is Mediamonkey What Im looking? (Video sharing at home)

Post by jakobscafe »

Hello - This is my home setup:
Windows 10 pc with network shares containing:
.mp4 files (Videofiles made with Handbrake)
.mkv files (Rips of my DVD or blurays disc - some are very large)
Using Windows Media Player (WMP), the .mp4 files is offered on the network

I have 2 WD TV Live boxes, that easily plays the movies (.mkv and .mp4), and 2 TVs that can play the files recognized by WMP.

If I buy Mediamonkey, is it then possible to play the movies on my kids iPads (ios 9)?
I don't want to sync the movies to the iPads, I want to stream them from the server to the iPads (or Apple TV)

Maybe it is a very silly question, but I really like to know if MM is the soloution?
And I don't share music om my homenetwork, only movies.
Best Regards - and thankyou

MediaMonkey can DLNA/UPnP share files on the network, thus any DLNA capable client can play them. There are DLNA Apps for iOS.

MM can do it but it can be hit-and-miss for certain video formats.

You probably want something like Plex or Emby.
