MM5 Missing Hotkeys that were available in MM4 [#17785]

Post by pip_pill »

Can we have a hotkey = Action - open in explorer, from the list window.
When checking the Folder in Windows explorer from the the Title window/List - Instead of using - Left click/Find more of the same/Folder Explorer it would be useful to have a hotkey or add as a hotkey in the options to "open in explorer" directly from the the list window screen
I checked Edit hotkeys and cannot see it in there.

Hi,
There is Edit menu where you have FMFS -> Folder explorer. You need to left click as FMFS works only on selected track.

Missing hotkeys are planned for future versions.

I would appreciate an addition of such a hot key too. I vote for it.

Me also. It was available as a Hot Key in MM4.
Want a dark skin for MM5? This is the one that works best for me .. elegant, compact & clear.

Hi,
THX Barry for reminder.

As said previously, it is planned for future Mm5 versions to fill blanks, but some things can be done now.

Here are hotkey actions from MM4 and MM5. May I ask you to let me know which you miss in MM5 and I'll add new bug with list of them?

I'm not the original poster, and you may prefer to have this in a new post now that MM5 is released - please let me know.

I very much miss the following MM4 hotkey actions in MM5:

Code: Select all

Edit: Find More from same Album
Edit: Find More from same Artist
General: Collapse the tree
Go to the Artist node
Go to the Album node

Thanks! These are working in 5.0.1, except for "General: Collapse the tree".

The collapse works fine when clicked via mouse on the tree's upper right menu, but no hotkey I bind to it does anything.

It works for me, can you verify that the Hotkey actually was created? What Shortcut did you assign to this hotkey?

It's working for me after restarting MM5 several times (I did restart once before reporting!). Sorry for the false alarm.

Well, not really a false alarm it turns out. It works for me occasionally, but the majority of the time it just does nothing. Go to album node and go to artist node both bring up the full lists, but don't actually expand (or even focus) on the tree nodes.

I think the functionality just might not entirely apply any more to MM5 the way it did in 4, and I'm kind of butting my head against navigating by keyboard at all in MM5. Is it intended to be a mouse-only version?

I don't understand what problem you're trying to describe. A step by step may help explain.

Sure. Behavior in 5 is a little complex, so let me know if this is unclear (and apologies for the length).

Action:
Press the F8 key (bound in Options/Hotkeys to action "Go to the artists node")

MM4/expected result:
Location bar at the top changes to "Entire Library > Artist & Album Artist"
Main window shows all tracks, sorted by artist
Navigation tree expands the Artist & Album Artist Node
Focus moves to the Artist & Album Artist Node in the Navigation tree (keyboard arrow keys will now navigate the tree)

MM5 result 1:
Nothing happens for 3-5 seconds, usually closer to 3*
Location bar at the top changes to "Home > Music > Artists"
Main window shows all tracks, sorted by artist
Navigation tree is unchanged (nothing expanded if it wasn't already)
A) If focus was already on the navigation tree: focus remains where it was (instead of moving to artists)
B) If focus was anywhere else: focus either remains where it was or vanishes, requiring tab key or mouse click to show up

MM5 result 2:
Nothing happens. This is harder to reproduce, but fairly common.

MM5 result 3:
Error dialog offering to Restart, Restart in safe mode, or Continue. This is even harder to reproduce, but does happen occasionally.

*Noted both because this is instantaneous in MM4, and because any keyboard action during this time will cancel the operation entirely, with unpredictable results

I've tried with various collections and nodes enabled/disabled, and with the "show all subnodes" and "focus tree nodes when browsing content" options selected and deselected. None of it seems to affect the behavior.
