2281 - entity art setting facility is frustrating and opaque

Post by Barry4679 »

The MM5 feature to select artist & albumartist art is frustrating to work with.
  1. No clarity or control over the default art for the entity:
    • there seems to be three defaults:
      • a relevant portrait from the Internet
      • a matrix of 1, 4 or 9 of the artist's albums
      • The 1st two characters of the artist name, in large bold font
    • if I try an artist portrait, but then change my mind I can return back to the boring 3rd option, but I cannot get back to the art matrix ... is there a way to trigger this? ... could there be an "Album Art Icon" button alongside the Default Icon button
  2. there is no weighting given to albumartist tags
    • see #1 in this image: You can see here in the AlbumArtist node, that the selected artist has 4 albums, but when you built their matrix you discarded one of their own albums, and instead used the cover of a composite album, where they had a single track ... also See #2 Bob Dylan ... t gets ridiculous here. I have 60+ albums where Dylan is the AlbumArtist .. the top three that you display in his matrix are Various Artists albums, where he is on the soundtrack for a track or two ... This would not be good in the Artist sub-node ... but this is the AlbumArtist node, where uit is xxxx (pick your own word)!
  3. the facility fails without error indication, see here ... what happens is
    • you show the image of an unrelated artist
    • I select the :Lookup Image" option (you cant see because the option is off the bottom of the screen)
    • I search for and find the correct image
    • I select it, then press OK
    • ==> you update the image, but revert to that single guy with the guitar that I was trying to change ... you issue no error explanation
Want a dark skin for MM5? This is the one that works best for me .. elegant, compact & clear.
