Strange, by new update you mean new update of MM 5.0.1 ? Are you installing the new update to the same folder where the Black Monkey is already installed (<MM install folder>/skins/BalckMonkey/) ?
If you are installing to another folder each time then it is understandable.

Under Tools > Options > Skins do you have 1 or 2 entries for Black Monkey after installing the Addon?

New versions re-install MM5, not update

Post by Oztours »

Have searched for an answer but couldn't find one.... any advice appreciated.

Been using MM5 for a long time and loving it, but now, every time there is an update, it is just installing a new version with a green skin and my installed skin (Black-Monkey) has vanished and I need to re-install it. This is not a major issue, but I am wondering if this is a bug, coding problem of some sort or worse still, am I doing something wrong :(

You may want to remove the existing Black Monkey.zip from %APPDATA%\MediaMonkey5\skins before installing the Addon downloaded from Addons.

No zip file or .mmip exists in APPDATA\MediaMonkey5\skins
Install from AddOn creates a Black Monkey folder here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\MediaMonkey 5\skins\
Default skins in folder are zip files not a sub-folder
Build update deletes Black Monkey folder every time and has for numerous previous builds.
Update install reverts back to green as folder has been deleted.

In addition, the dialog box "to close processes and restart" after Tools Addons Add Open "skin".mmip Enter disappeared a few builds ago.

Thanks

Hi,
Why Don't you Extract Black monkey skin in skins folder of MM installation?

Apparently, I should start over.
I am running latest version of MM5
Media Monkey site has addons
The Black Monkey skin is listed as one under MM5.
The download is a .mmip file, not a .zip.
When you use the add button under tools / addons / , a dialog box opens to find the downloded .mmip.
Works great. There is now a Black Monkey folder where all the skins reside.
When you update the mm5 program, it turns green. Probably because the program "Add" button creates a folder and not a zip file where it belongs. "The skins folder". The new install of the program deletes the folder every time.
If you go into the created Black Monkey folder and zip up all the files , call it Black Monkey.zip, the skin is not over written and a program update will not turn everything green.
I thought the "Add" button and install of the .mmip might be intended to take care of that.
In addition, the dialog box to shut down processes and restart the program works if the skin is a zip file. The dialog does not open when the skin files a a folder.

I can work through this process, but I doubt a lot of users will be able to.

Thank You!
