error connecting to musicbrainz

Post by kyungsuk »

Hi all

When i try to use musicbrainz to autotag.

I pop a cd in, and right click and select

Lookup Audio CD metadata...

I can see the background task for "Requesting information for Audio CD" and then a popup window is displayed:
"There was an error while connecting to musicbrainzDOTorg: Cannot create connection."

My Metadata lookup settings are set as such:

Audio CD metadata lookup
Database: MusicBrainz
Server name: musicbrainzDOTorg

Auto-tagging
Sources: musicbrainz

This feels like a bug in Media Monkey....how do i debug this? is there a log somewhere I can look at?

Thanks

Eric

Is this for 1 or all CDs? Sometimes trying again later will do the trick.

Hi,
Try to change server to "mb.mediamonkey.com" and also try other two FreeDB options with same "mb.mediamonkey.com" server name.

Hmm...are there logs i can inspect so i can see what error i'm encountering? My connections to musicbrainz or mb.mediamonkey.com both utterly fail.

Hi,

Audio CD metadata lookup
Database: MusicBrainz
Server name: musicbrainz.org

definetly works, it is the default CD metadata database in MM5.

Is it failing for all your CDs ? If you go to https://musicbrainz.org/ via explorer (or click the link here), does it show you the page ?
If yes, then generate debug log (item 4b here: https://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewt ... 30&t=86643 )

Hi,
For CD lookup you can temporary replace "mb.mediamonkey.com" with "gnudb.gnudb.org" for "FreeDB (HTTP)" source.

For CD lookup you can temporary replace "mb.mediamonkey.com" with "gnudb.gnudb.org" for "FreeDB (HTTP)" source.

For CD lookups we are using
MusicBrainz at musicbrainz.org
with fallback to
FreeDB at mb.mediamonkey.com

But based on the above user screenshot there was an issue with musicbrainz.org lookup.
The questions are:
Is it failing for all CDs ? If you click this link:
https://musicbrainz.org/ws/2/discid/v2D ... -?fmt=json
does it show you the JSON data?
Could your generate debug log (item 4b here: https://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewt ... 30&t=86643 )
Just be sure that you are using debug build: https://www.mediamonkey.com/beta/MediaM ... _Debug.exe

Thanks for feedback!

If it can't find the CD info it may not be in the database, in that case you'll need to manually enter the information.

Or at least partial information so that you can rip CD and then USE MM5 Auto Tag to fill the rest on the ripped tracks. Finally after that is done and you are satisfied you can Use Auto organize to put teh files in their final Resting place.
