I like MiniLyrics (as an example) but I find it annoying that it's always in the way. However, there's one area where I have a lot of dead space and that's in the right-hand side of the menu-bar. I've taken the time to resize MiniLyrics to appear in that space and, surprisingly, it would work quite well there if I could get it to dock and stay there.
I suspect several other apps would do nicely there.
Can this already happen or, if not, get it to happen later?
Ability to use empty menu bar?

Have you seen the Embedded minilyrics add-on?

Re: Ability to use empty menu bar?
Yes, but I saw nothing in it that would let me put it in the menu bar area.

What exactly do you mean by "menu bar"?Agrajag wrote:Yes, but I saw nothing in it that would let me put it in the menu bar area.

Re: Ability to use empty menu bar?
That would be the area where you have you're menu bars located. In many case there is a lot of empty space (you could fit more menu bars there), but this user wants to dock a window there.

Exactly. I'm on a 24" widescreen monitor. My menu bar items (File, Help, etc.) and the icons to the right of them don't even reach the half-way point. Thus there's a LOT of unused space there doing absolutely nothing that I'd like to put to use.

Ok. then no, there's no way to dock anything there. But seeing how you can just drag the minilyrics window where ever you like it, I don't see why that isn't a workable solution for you.Agrajag wrote:Exactly. I'm on a 24" widescreen monitor. Re: Ability to use empty menu bar?
Because it continually changes focus and resizes out of the desire size. Thus, for the same reason the embedded script exists is what I want. I'd just like to find a way to use it in a new location.
The menu bar can do other creative things so I don't think it's outside the realm of possibility. That's why I mentioned it. Job done. hehe
