A comment and a feature request that I think would fit in with the list...
Re: 2D resizing: If this is the window I'm thinking of (properties, artwork tab, show an image, then the new window that pops up) the 2D resize does indeed work for me on 4.1.5.1719. Not a very large target in the corners to get the mouse pointer to register but I haven't had any problem doing so on any of the four. Something that might be a nice change for this to consider would be keeping the window's aspecAt ratio constrained when the corner resize is done. The image itself keeps the same ratio but in resizing the window you get letterbox bars around the image if you wander off the image's ratio. In many image editing software applications a resize of a selection area can have ratio constrained via an alt, ctrl, or shift key modifier; not sure if the same could work for an actual window resize.
And my feature request...
Max embedded image size setting: I use MediaMonkey for ripping of my CDs and will include Album Artwork with them. Not all my players support using a separate artwork image that resides either in the same folder as the ripped track or a dedicated artwork folder so I opt to use the embedded ID3 tag artwork feature. This generally works well except that it will take up more space than a single image shared by multiple files and I have encountered images that when embedded were too large for some of my players to be able to handle. If a
max embedded image size setting could be established that would then resize images (if needed) being added to ID3 tags it could help both issues. First, the max size could be set to a value that matches the maximum artwork display dimensions of the player of my choosing, which if I updated my entire library could be a significant space savings. Second, I could set a max size that would match the largest supported size (regardless of what size it displays) of the player of my choosing to ensure best compatibility of my tracks and tags across my devices.
I've read through another
Album Art sizing thread and also looked at
trixmoto's script. While both are a good discussion and utility, I think if a native max size setting that would do a resize
at time the artwork gets embedded could be added it would be a good starting point. Not as advanced as a bulk resize of anything that is already embedded or as nice as a per-device resize on sync, but a useful feature that could lay the groundwork for later enhancement.
Thanks!
