Is it okay that the play-button is so "big"?

No RC, the shell wouldn't have to be changed at all.

Have you realized that in the theme editor while editing the theme you can change the location of the buttons (close, minimize,...). That is basically changing the shell.

You have the option in MM to override the windows theme. When you have that box unticked, that is leaving the shell alone, when you have it ticked it is not modifying the shell it is just leaving it alone not paying any attention to it.

That is also what would happen if the shape was to change.

Definition of what's a shell: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shell_%28computing%29. I don't think that MediaMonkey uses any of Windows's shell components, except for the "common dialogs" of course.
Talking about "the shell" is confusing because almost any program can be called "a shell": MediaMonkey is a shell for the internal web browser, for the directory explorer (Location node), ... .

When programmers "change something to the shell", they're usually refering to the Windows shell. Making changes to their "own program's shell" is just changing the user interface and controls (e.g. changing custom/owner drawn controls).
Extensions: ExternalTools, ExtractFields, SongPreviewer, LinkedTracks, CleanImport, and some other scripts (Need Help with Addons > List of All Scripts).

Yeah. Blake and Steegy are more up to the vision. There isn't impossible to do anything that I've requested, and I have a realistic approach to the skinning possibilities. I'm not requesting that ALL of these will be available with MM3, but many of them will in fact. When the album-art views are ready, out of a programmers view, it wouldn't much to do this customizable.

well if it is not going to redo the shell then it wont be pushing peter to much.

steegy. double click on any album art. you get a child window with the art in. that is the windows previewer that pops that childwindow up. so part of the shell is being used maybe they don't want it to be used but seems like micorsoft has their fingers in everywhere? 8)

you do have the microsoft picture viewer program don't you?

We're going of topic, but you are confusing some things.

In case the Album-Art window is floating, it is an object of the class TTBXFloatingWindowParent with a child window of class TTBXDockablePanelTransp, both instantiations of classes from the TBX controls package for Delphi, that MediaMonkey uses. The subwindow of the last window is of the class TImage, the actual Image control in Delphi.
So, where are you seeing a Windows Shell class or component?

EDIT: I was talking about the wrong window. Your window is an instantiation of the TFImage class with a subwindow of the class TImagePlus, both have nothing to do with the Windows shell "Explorer.exe).

read my sig... a little more about the middle line.

i did not know you could do that with the monkey's
programming i thought the pop up window was being
done by the same thing that does it on the web which is micorsoft's picture previewer

The grand unveiling has taken place as Gilded takes proud place as the default MM3 skin. Worth the wait; it looks fantastic! Well done, Morten, and many thanks for your hard work.

Now, what are you going to do for your next trick..? :D

well i still can not see the buttons until i mouse over the previous and next buttons and then it barely shows up.

i like the new av effect of the equlizer level's that took some time to do.

not sure if the volume is to also move with the av effect but it does.

glad to see no more new feature buttons on the default skin.

there's little real estate for buttons on the skins now.

nohitter151's logo he did of the monkey on the disk would be a good logo with this skin morten did.

Congrats, Morten.
You've done an amazing work with Glided! Really, really good.

As always  I have some issues to point out:

- MicroPlayer and MiniPlayer are using WMP11 skin... "Work in Progress" effect?
- "Now Playing" window can't be docked to MM main window...
- I still think those glyphs (continous, shuffle, equaliser, playlist) need some improvement.
- Question: Does MM3 skin engine support localization of player strings ("Title", "Artist", "Album", "playing", "Track XX of YY", etc)?

That's it. Keep up the excellent work

Cheers

I would just like to tell people that further discussion about the skin can be taken here.

About your questions gege;
- Yep. The skin is not finished and I'm still figuring out how the miniplayer/microplayer are going to look.
- Hmm?
- We'll see if I or someone else comes up with a better idea in the future.
- Not yet, but maybe it will be in the future? I've actually also thought about that thing.
Best regards,
Morten
