MM 3 Beta sync problem on Millenium Edition

Running MM 3.0.1.1127 on two different PC's- One is an XP system (work computer) and I'm having no problems getting my 8G ipod nano to sync.

HOWEVER

On my home Millenium System MM 3 recognizes that an ipod is connected but it doesn't 'see' any thing that is on the ipod already and when attempting to sync files to the ipod (I have Force Itunes style folders selected) i get this error

F:\iPod_Control\Music\F00\cannot be created or
F:\iPod_Control\Music\F03\cannot be created or
F:\iPod_Control\Music\F04\cannot be created etc

It is acting like- and this is a guest- that even though my PC can see the ipod my ipod can't recognize my PC. Several other issues along that line of thought- option to remove device remains greyed out when is connected and it creates a new device configuration dll every time it is connected.

Any Thoughts

I'd have to guess that the most likely cause of the problem is Windows ME.

Probably not the answer you're looking for, but it's been unsupported by Microsoft for almost a year and a half now (July 11, 2006) not to mention that unlike Windows NT, 2000, XP, and Vista it is based on Windows 4.x (same as Windows 95, 98 and 98SE).

you were correct ME was the problem

I upgraded to windows 2000 and most problems are resolved

although it might be a good idea to point out that although Media Monkey will support Windows ME the new ipod nanos are incompatible no mater what program you use... I tried them all... the program either doesn't recognize the ipod at all or like media monkey can see the ipod but cant do anything else.

Now if I could only figure out why MM3 won't play my WMA files i'll be set

@dipod: Do you have the newest mediaplayer installed? Maybe it needs some library or something like that...

have windows media player 9 installed and went back and downloaded codecs for media player 7 and up as well as the 6.1 pack from microsoft like suggested in the faq but still no joy

in my media monkey options on the input plugins the windows media player plugin Media Monkey WMA player in_wma.dll says "nothing to configure" when double clicked. Is this normal???

yes.. having "in_wma.dll" come up with 'Nothing to configure.' is normal, most input plugins that handle files either have the option grayed out (FLAC & AAC), pop up with that message (WAV & WMA) or provide author information (MP3 & OggVorbis).
The only two input plugin's I can configure are 'Monkey's Audio Player' and '.mpc Musepack'.

i've said in other posts i will not use mm 3 on my win98 or with any win9x system.. too much trouble with it.

i suspect the trouble is with the vista coding support.

since its rumored that vista does not like anything to do with win9x.

kinda off topic...
I dunno why people seem to have a big issue with Vista, I never had any (not even a slight) problem with any programs (new and old) under Vista that weren't solved by running it as an Administrator. And since 90% of the people who complain about Vista turn UAC off, that would prevent the 'problem' from coming up.
I dunno... maybe I'm just lucky...

As for rovingcowboy's though, isn't that backwards?
If Vista's the one that doesn't like anything Win9x, wouldn't the problems arise under Vista and not older OS's?

Back on topic..

dipod, do you have the latest Service Pack (SP4) and all updates? If you selectively picked updates, you may have missed one or two that relates to WMA playback or WMP9.
It could also be that the WMA's are encoded with a version of the codec that's newer than what you can play currently. I believe that this can be found in the Windows Update as well.

during my Windows 2000 upgrade i installed all the service packs and ungrades available as well as the windows media player upgrades through WMP9

The problem is that all of these wma files i cant play now used to play before I upgraded to Windows 2000 & still play in the WMP9. This seems to be a MM3 issue or something to do with the upgrade
