Last.fm Plug-in & Auto-DJ testing (MM 3.0.x)

Not even out of beta and I have feature requests:

1) Only submit the 1 artist to last.fm if there are more than 1, because "Bob Dylan; Tom Petty" doesn't match any artists on there side. I guess just pick the first 1, which at least for me is normally the primary artist.

2) iPod support would be great, but this is much further down the MM feature list

I've been trying the plugin for a few days now and find that it will play a lot of the same songs over and over.It doesn't matter what genre or whatever I pick it always seems to end up playing the same songs.Sometimes it'll pick the same song twice in 3 songs even though I've enabled the same artist thingy to 60 mins.

The scrobbler plugin works great under 3.0.2.1134! One thing I would like to echo that someone else has mentioned a few pages back would be the need for the Love/Ban buttons (Tag would also be nice, but optional). They could just be added as a custom button bar....

I'd rather the MM devs not Mickey Mouse the issue and instead fix it properly by adopting a better parsing method for multi-item fields. Scripts already do this so there is no reason MM can't do it natively.

I now tried the scrobbler plugin on another computer, and installed for the first time. it worked ok when I disabled the album meta info option.
But strange is, it scrobbled one song three times on my last.fm-page, and after that it stopped scrobbling...
Again i have no idea what goes on, just providing error info if that is at all helpful...

I don't have much in terms of helpful info, but I finally disabled the scrobbler plug-in for 3 reasons.

1) Reliability. It works for a while gets confused and stops working. If I quit and restart MM then it starts working again, but it's lost what it missed.

2) Occasional duplicates. I didn't see this a ton, but did get a couple.

3) I was getting really weird entries that I don't even have songs of, like another user was submitting tracks to my account. Changed my password and it happened a 2nd time. I've gone back to the Winamp plug-in and haven't seen it again.

Right-click your MM icon, choose Run as Administrator, then install the plugin(s).

grr, vista, got it yesterday, not quite used to it yet. anyways, that option doesnt show up when i rightclick the mmip-file... if i rename it to .exe the option shows up but nothing happens when i install it.

No, you don't run the extension as administrator, but you run MediaMonkey as administrator, then install the plugin as normal.

hm, doesnt seem to send all played songs to last.fm, but that's already been established.
but i recall that the "real" last.fm app waits about 20 sec into the song before it sends it off to be registered, that doesnt seem to be the case with this extension. songs i only listened to for a sec and then skipped were sent to the server.

Now last.fm is having some issues with their submission server so I figured that the cached tracks would get added eventually. I just went to my profile page and saw the spam message that some tracks were not submitted because they were dated earlier than my last submission. My cache file is now empty. Please note that the first track in my cache was Prince - Dionne, the first track in the log with an error. This track appears on my profile but none of the others do.

The problem now is that nothing else is being logged although I'm continuing to play tracks. I believe there's a problem with the plugin "restarting" (it's not) once it submits a cache. I've played two tracks since the line in the log above, but no new entries have been posted, no tracks have been submitted, and the cache file is empty.

I believe the MM plugin needs some better error handling. This isn't the first time I've seen this happen, but it's the first time I've been able to document it before restarting MM.

I think I will go back to the Winamp plugin until this one is more stable. Looking forward to it!

The MM provided plug-in does send data to last.fm OK, but it doesn't have nearly the same features as the official last.fm plugin, which doesn't work with MM3.

In particular the lastfm version pops up artist bio data, (and suggested tags) and if I play a downloaded track it'll tell me (usually) which album it is from. I'd really like MM to get the winamp plugin working again, like it used to with MM2.5.5.
