Getting Itunes to Read Comments Created In MM

Post by Guest »

Hi all,

Read the earlier thread and am having the same problem. I've created a lot of notes in the comment field in MM and was just wondering if there was a way to get itunes to recognize them? The earlier suggestion - to write comments in a field that itunes does recognize like BPM is a good one, but would take A LOT of time to redo. Tryed the advanced tag management/synchronize, didnt' work.

Any Ideas?

Thanks.

Update: Itunes doesn't read the BPM field either - Apple is so damn arrogant!

Hi,

Did you ever find out how to get itunes to recognise the "comments" field in media monkey?

I don't know if you use the "lyrics" field and if itunes uses this ,you can use this : http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... act+fields to get your fields switched.

Thanks for this, but unfortunately its not helping me do what i want.

I use media mokey to edit all the tags and organise my music, but as the synchronize facilty isnt great on MM, I use itunes to do that part.

I also use itunes to create auto playlists based on different tags.

WHat I am trying to do is edit the Comments tag for my music in MM, so i can use them to create auto playlists in itunes, but unfortunately, the comments field does not reflect in itunes :o(

I can edit the lyrics tag, but then itunes does not have the facility to create aut playlists based on lyrics!!!

Basically I'm stuck!!

Well, that sounds like an Itunes problem, the Monkey can not fix other programs shortcomings.

granted....but shouldnt the comments field be universal????

When i edit the comments field in any other mp3 tag editor, it reflects in itunes....its just MM that fails to do that. I love MM, but in my eyes that makes the fault in MM, rather than itunes!!

ps - if MM did everything i wanted, i'd much rather use MM, but I'm not that biased not to notice the short comings of MM

Did not realize that was the case when I replied.
After adding to the Comment Tag in MM are you making sure that the Tag is synchronized (Ctrl + S)?
Also, when editing tag does the edit show in other tag editors?

Does other MP3 Tag Editor See MM Comment tags. Note that MM uses Extended Support for Comments while still maintaining Compatibility with Most Tag Editors and devices that uses ID3v2.3.0 Tags.

Well Well Well.....now this is interesting.....

I checked what you guys said, and I think its to do with different types of tags.

One of my tracks came with a tag which I could see in MM, but not in itunes, so I added a tag in itunes to see if it comes through on MM.....well....it doesnt. So I checked that same track using MP3tag. And guess what......the tag showed the tag I added with itunes AND the tag which i could see in MM in he first place!!! they were joined together!

MP3tag tells me that the tag is ID3v2.

What version tags are used in MM version 2.5.5?

...and wat versions are used in itunes 7.6.2.9

I think we're onto something here!!!

Then One thing is certain, you will need to decide which one you will keep and which one you will Delete.

Do a Simple Test: Copy That track To other Folder, Use MM My computer Node to browse to it, Clean All Tags (Tools -> Advanced tag Managment), Save tags in MediaMonkey And Then Try to read it in iTunes and Via Versa.

MM Uses Mix of Both world to be compatible as possible, itunes I guess uses only ID3v2.4.0 and ignores MM tags.
But as it ignores MM tags (or just uses last one found) do not know that new tag is added due to duplicating. Now I even confused myself :( Shortly said the App that Adds second set of tags have bug. Even WMP can do that if you have played track in WMP. Which left us in question is it: MM, WMP, iTunes, MP3Tag or some other source we haven't noticed yet that was used prior to all of these apps.

Just to clarify....this problem is ONLY with the "comments" tag

Everything else works perfect!!!

I hope you guys are as determined to get to the bottom of this as I am!!! It's not a matter of whether MM is better than itunes ...blah blah blah.....its just a puzzle that needs solving now!!
