Estimated Amount To Be Synced During Autoconversion

Post by Solitaire001 »

I've recently re-ripped a majority of my music collection to FLAC. MediaMonkey does have the ability to autoconvert the files to which ever audio format and quality level I choose when sending my files to my player during syncing. A problem I've had is that I can't tell ahead of time if the files I've selected will fit on my player, I only know that they won't fit when I receive a message letting me know that there's not enough space on my player for the files I've selected to sync.

Right now my best option is to: (1) convert the files ahead of time, (2) create playlists and/or a collection that includes the duplicates and excludes the FLAC originals, (3) check to ensure that what I've selected will fit on my player, and (4) syncing those playlists and the collection to my player.

Suggestion: Add a feature that can analyze and then estimate the total size of the files that will be synced to your player, based on the conversions that will be done to the files (such as from FLAC to 320kbps MP3). Even if the feature was limited to CBR files (which, with those type of files, should be a simple calculation to estimate the space occupied by the resulting file), it would be a great help when syncing files and would eliminate the need for duplicates in my collection.

The auto-sync list already provides the file space required for the sync (after conversions).
