Wireless sync deletes converted files and re-downloads

Wireless sync deletes converted files and re-downloads
Title says it all. I thought I saw an earlier report of this problem but I can't find it. All the FLACs that converted to MP3 on the first pass are now being re-converted and copied over, again.
This makes syncing USELESS, guys. 4.0 with iPod does not have this problem.
MMW 1614, Win7/64
MMA 80, Android 4.04 (Galaxy Tab 2)

Re: Wireless sync deletes converted files and re-downloads
this problem was resolved with the latest versions for me. I am syncing the contents of a playlist with no randomization.
how have you configured sync? is it using an auto-playlist?
Did you delete the mediamonkey folder from the sdcard?

Re: Wireless sync deletes converted files and re-downloads
Not a playlist, it's a selected artist. Yes, I did wipe the entire installation this time, before putting build 80 on.

i'll test this later using the same setupmcow wrote:Not a playlist, it's a selected artist. Yes, I did wipe the entire installation this time, before putting build 80 on.
Re: Wireless sync deletes converted files and re-downloads
Not sure if this is the same problem, but seems very similar. I was under the impression from the FAQ's wireless and USB syncing could each be used, but I've found that after doing one, doing the other deletes and resyncs seemingly random tracks, and duplicates the playlists. Deleting the playlists manually and resyncing gets round this, at least until the next sync. I'd much prefer to be able to sync large numbers of tracks by USB for speed, and use wireless syncing for mainly syncing metadata.
Most of my music is in FLAC which is set to autoconvert to MP3 with some native MP3 files included too. I use autoplaylists to sync music over so don't know if that is part of the problem. I've tried this on both MMA 80 & 85 with the same result.
Samsung Galaxy S2 sync'd to 32gb SD card.

Re: Wireless sync deletes converted files and re-downloads
Found out just now that MMA 85 & MMW 1615 have reintroduced the bug of multiple copies of tracks being sync'd, just wiped phone and trying wireless sync now
Re: Wireless sync deletes converted files and re-downloads
is that just over usb sync?Acemac wrote:Found out just now that MMA 85 & MMW 1615 have reintroduced the bug of multiple copies of tracks being sync'd, just wiped phone and trying wireless sync now
i'm noticing a lot of regression bugs in new versions. quite annoying
Re: Wireless sync deletes converted files and re-downloads
Yes, just trying wireless sync of one playlist of 113 songs and it seems to be ok so far. Just a shame it's so much slower over wifi to convert and copy tracks over. there certainly seem to be a few regressions for me at least in the latest versions. 80 & 1614 were the most stable versions so far apart from the conflict between USB and wireless syncing.
Re: Wireless sync deletes converted files and re-downloads
yeah, wifi is slow, especially for large sync lists.Acemac wrote:Yes, just trying wireless sync of one playlist of 113 songs and it seems to be ok so far. There are plans to improve that though.. so it's not too much of a problem.
I'm just overjoyed this is finally happening. i've been waiting since my G1 for MMA and so far it's looking like exactly what I wanted pity the world ends in 2 days
Re: Wireless sync deletes converted files and re-downloads
Wireless sync only worked partially, no duplicates like over USB but out of an autoplaylist of 113 tracks, 101 copied over. No apparent reason why the remaining tracks didn't make it. Trying to resync just deleted the odd 1 and recopied back again.
I know what you mean Zombiefly, I've been waiting for MMA for over a year. At least despite the problems with the betas it's almost here. It's one of the reasons I'm so keen to test and find issues. I should add as a measure of support for the developers hard work on this as much as wanting it to work.

Re: Wireless sync deletes converted files and re-downloads
I actually managed a successful wifi sync on 0085/1615. It was an issue to get it going (it seems rotating the screen did the trick), but left it overnight and both the 150 files set to sync and the Playlist were on the device this morning. It has been the first successful audio sync I've had since I got the device.

Re: Wireless sync deletes converted files and re-downloads
my wifi sync fails randomly on about 1% of the total tracks. a quick resync then syncs those that failed.
I will test the latest versions this evening and see how that checks out, not had time yet

Re: Wireless sync deletes converted files and re-downloads
I removed App, MediaMonkey folders and all media other than videos on Device and removed device profiles on MMW before the upgrade to 0085/1615.

i've been doing that since i found my self with sync failing constantly. good to start with a clean slate until things are more stableLowlander wrote:I removed App, MediaMonkey folders and all media other than videos on Device and removed device profiles on MMW before the upgrade to 0085/1615.
Re: Wireless sync deletes converted files and re-downloads
Just tried MMA 87 & MMW 1615 together, wireless syncing still doesn't copy all the tracks of a 113 track autoplaylist, only 101. I did a side by side comparison of the playlist from MMA next to the same in MMW and the missing tracks all cluster towards the last 20 tracks. Tried subsequently to sync via USB, which copied over everything ok, but MMA only sees the playlist as having 6 tracks in it despite all the tracks on the phone. I opened the M3U file in a text editor and it lists everything so seems to be an issue MMA 87 is having.
The problems I've had make me wonder if it's something to do with autoplaylists that MMA & MMW seem to have an issue with. SInce I only use autoplaylists to sync music I don't know if it's just that or if other people have had similar problems using other methods to sync too.
Just wanted to thank all the people involved for their hard work and hope you all have a merry christmas and happy new year.
Adrian.
P.S. Playcounts seem to update plays every time I sync, some tracks are showing as played 6-12 times when only played once in MMA. This only seems to have happened on versions 85 & 87.
