MEDIA MONKEY UNABLE TO DECODE THIS FORMAT

Post by freedomfries323 »

All I'm doing is trying to play a local MP3. Same with .ogg, or any other file. They all playback fine when I use winVLC, or mediaplayer. Microsoft recently pushed a windows 10 update onto my computer, so I'm wondering if this has anything to do with it. What should I do? I tried reinstalling MM, to no avail. I can't play ANYTHING anymore with MM.

There was an option to "find a missing codec" which took me to the microsoft windows media pack. I tried installing it, no difference. What to do?

Version 4.1.2.4.1883, on windows 10 version 1903 build 18362.175

I did more tests this morning and it seems I can play .FLAC, and .OGG. I can't play any videos, nor can I play .MP3...

Seems Bizarre. I play those fine with other programs.

I can't confirm this yet, but I'm starting to suspect that the update to 1903 has borked media playback. This is windows N (10 PRO), and it requires a media feature pack download. The update is probably what is controlling this sort of stuff. OGG and FLAC may be spared as they aren't built into windows...

Can anyone confirm? I can't even find a download for the Media Feature Pack for this latest version of Windows. Microsoft is such crrrrap these days.

Here is the link to Media Feature Pack https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/softwar ... eaturepack

I upgraded to 1903 yesterday and no issues with playback.

It may be a case of a Windows N variant: http://www.mediamonkey.com/support/inde ... e/View/130

I ran the media feature update and mp3's and mp4's play again... That was it...

Kids, If you are running Windows 10 Pro, don't forget to upgrade the media pack EVERY update... Thanks Microsoft!

Quick question. Does MM support .mkv videos? That one still doesn't work. Though I don't recall ever trying before.

Hi,
For MKV videos and other non covered formats by Media Feature Pack I would suggest that you use Packs like https://www.codecguide.com/about_kl.htm (Basic One should be enough for many formats)
