"Cast To" fails for flac files

Hi - I've got a situation where I can play flac files fine on my Android phone, but when I try to cast them to a Ruark R2 MK3, they just skip. MP3 files work fine when cast and I can play flac files fine via UPnP to the Ruark. Thx John

If I got you correctly, are you saying that if You cast FLAC from Android Phone to Ruark R2 MK3 then it doesn't play and when you use Ruark R2 MK3 DLNA to access MMW DLNA server it plays FLAC?

From What I see most likely Ruark R2 MK3 do not support FLAC streams and MMW automatically convert them into supported format so you can listen them.

Can you confirm that when you access MMW server using Ruark R2 MK3 DLNA client you actually play FLAC and not MP3/M4A?

Hi Peke - I'm pretty sure that my UPnP is set up to convert wavs to flac:



and these play fine natively on the Ruark - the spec states the following

Codec’s supported include WAV, WMA, AAC, FLAC and MP3

.

Normal wavs (16 or 24 bit) play fine as well.

It's a bit of a puzzle.

Hi,
I know it is not MMA, but can you please try this:
1. Download https://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewt ... 86639&sd=d
2. Install it as portable -> Cancel Start Wizard and do not import and MM4 settings
3. Drag and Drop one/few FLAC files to Now Playing
4. Right click on Player -> Play To -> Ruark R2 MK3
5. Start playback

Report back the result.

Hi Pavle - unfortunately nothing plays at all if I use Mediamonkey 5 - I can connect to the Ruark, I get a "buffering" message on MM5 and the Ruark says "No Media" and skips the track. This is the case for both MP3s and FLACs.

If I do the same from MMA (1.3.7.0902), the MP3s work fine but the FLACs do not.

Have you sent us LOG files? I do not see any tickets from you after June 2018.

As explained above - MM5 just doesn't work for me at all. Happy to send you whatever logs you need from MM4/MMA.

Hi - I've just retested this using DLNA with no "Auto-Convert" as well as "Cast To" and it looks like this doesn't work properly via DLNA also; this suggests a problem with the way that the Ruark decodes flac and wma. I'll log a call with them.

Even it doesn't work, Log file show us what MM5 sends to Ruark and what it gets in response so that we can see if there is something we can adjust and improve.

It will also give us more details that you can pass to Ruark when you contact support.
