Thank you for that. I don't think that I would have migrated to MM5 without these facilities, but now look forward to the goodies which MM5 is bringing ....

Album & Tracks view: it is great to see this return to MM. Are you going to re-implement a custom display limitation upon the number of rows per album? ....

example: https://www.dropbox.com/s/zb6ck9hdhedgh ... w.png?dl=0 ...
I use MedialMonkey v4 by creating playlists of albums. When playing music I select a playlist, which is sorted by "Summary" and displayed by "Show Art with Details".

How do I do that in MediaMonkey v5?
When displaying a playlist, there is no "Albums & Tracks" option.
If I view the MM5 "Music" node "Albums & Tracks" is available for "All Tracks" and "Album" nodes. Selecting either of these nodes then filtering for Match: All/Any, of the following criteria: Others -> Playlist is click to set ... however choosing a play list crashes MM5

Thanks, the crash is entered as http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=14656 and we'll also try to add the Album & Tracks view to Playlist nodes asap.

Hello

I just fired up MM5 for the first time. It looks great! Got a couple of Qs.

1) The "Folders" node

- Is it possible to enable a "list view" for Subfolders in "Folders" node?
- Is it possible to enable the "All" subnode under "Folders" node?

I am used to browsing my collection by a split-view where the "top" is a list-view with Genre/Artist/Album and the "bottom" is a list-view as well (detailed) containing Title/Artist/Album/Date/Genre etc. etc. This makes it very efficient for me to work through tagging. I couldn't find any option to set this, or enable more Columns in list-view. Might just be me not looking the right places for these options tho..

2) Metadata sources (probably feature request realted but realted to MM4 scripts..)

- Do you have any plans to expand to e.g. Discogs and similar DBs? I am currently using Jaikoz/Beets for autotag and MM4 for manual corrections. In MM4 I am used to the Discogs Batch Tagger but it's not avaiable for MM5 as you guys are doing the awesome autotag feature!
- Is it possible to set weight per source (sort of like you do in e.g. Beets) ? I love that and the fact you can compare matches for best results

1) We plan to support similar sub-view mode as already implemented for Playlists. As for 'All' subnode, it's replaced by a tool-bar button in MM5. You can enable more columns, either by right-clicking headers, or by changing view (see View Selector button in the toolbar).

2) There probably won't be much more in MM5.0 than is already implemented, but since it's an open architecture and actually the whole UI and related code is open-sourced, anything is possible to implement, either by us or an Add-on.

Thanks!

After reading the topic, I would like to make a suggestion.
How about having two different views - basic for new users and power user for all of the current users that know and love MM?
So, power user view will having all of the current power user features already built in, so that the people who migrate from 4 to 5 when it is done, will have access to all of the functions that they are use to. And the basic view will just have the very basics, so that new users can play around first and then, when ready, they can move onto power user mode.

Hi,
As Jiri already pointed out MM5 UI is open-source and almost any Layout/Mode can be made. Have you tried to put MM5 in Mode -> Tablet?

Just a quick note. You guys do realize that the new MM addons are going to be just javascript, css, and html. It doesn't matter what they include in the base install what it seems like they are doing it creating a solid core framework to create your own media player it seems like they are heading in the same direction UI wise as Foobar2000 which I personally welcome. With a simple system like html and javascript it will be extremely easy to develop your own plugins and tweak the UI to your desire rather than this being a simplification this is actually giving the user far more power than we've ever had in MM. They will have some sane defaults for regular users and for the power users an endless possibility of extension and customization.
Man I just sounded like I was on the sales team haha.

Hello,

Looking at MM5 for the first time due to the issues with MM4 and Discogs extension...
...and I found that MM5 can't use the extension, but appears to still have the old Amazon autotag options which I thought were going to be removed due to the API for Amazon changing such that this no longer was available?

So three questions....
1) Since the maker of the Discogs extension (...just had the name and it slipped my mind - sorry!) advised he didn't know JS and wouldn't be porting it to MM5, what autotag features _are_ there?

2) (yes this is MM5 topic, but..) Is there a way to have MM4 use Chrome browser short term so that I can continue to import my collection and tag them properly?

and 3) I haven't come across (yet) anything explaining how to make extensions for MM5 - Might have just missed it, but is there one? (I might port the Discogs myself if I have the time...)

Hi,
MM5 has completely new auto-tagging framework using various sources (musicbrainz; tvdb; imdb) and also fingerprinting methods, so it can tag multiple albums at once and also tracks with unknown attributes (based on fingerprinting)

Just right-click files > Auto-tag to see the auto-tag dialog.
Or go to Options > Library > Metadata Lookup > Auto-tagging to see the various options for auto-tag.

EDIT: I don't see any Amazon sources, are you using the newest MM5 build 2221 ??

I just downloaded the latest (first time installing it) - version 5.0.0.2054
I don't see a newer, and it's set to advise of updates (though I'm not sure if that includes the beta, to be honest)

Select file(s)
Hit CTRL+L (or right-click, auto-tag from web)
Under options in the upper-right,

Code: Select all

> US (Amazon.com)
- UK (Amazon.co.uk)
- Canada (Amazon.ca)
- Germany (Amazon.de)
- France (Amazon.fr)
- Japan (Amazon.co.jp)
----------
X Show Live
O Show Re-releases
X Show Singles
X Show Best Of

> depicts what is selected (radio button)
- depicsts selectable (radio button)
O depicts empty checkbox
X depicts checked checkbox

- TLD

-- EDIT:

interesting... I checked again in the thread where the latest version was supposed to be in the last post, and downloaded that again on the off chance.. and it was a different version. (not sure how I'd gone to the last post of the last page the first time and didn't get the same.)

Now installed 5.0.0.2191
(Thank you for restoring a title bar with "File", "Edit", ... !!!!)

So now I no longer see the options on the tagging screen, and it's not "Auto tag from the web" either.
Thank you for the information!

That version is from August last year.

The latest version that I see (at bottom of page 6 as you say) is version 2221 posted there 18th January this year.

Here is a direct link to post where it was uploaded: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... 85#p464585
