MMA re-syncs all files that I've played locally since last sync

Post by jmcc »

Hi - bit of a strange one, but since MMW 1897, when I sync my device (Samsung S10+) with MMW it downloads every song that I've played on MMA since the last time that I did a sync - this behaviour is new following the upgrade to MMW 1897.

Hi,
Can you please upgrade to latest MMA Beta and do the following:
1. Use description at http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... ?f=21&t=69 to start creating MMW log.
2. In the middle of sync (allow at least 10 tracks to be synced) use ⋮ -> About MediaMonkey -> Send Logs -> Write down log ID (Screenshot would do also) and press ok -> Reply Here or Open Support ticket to send us saved log from step 1 and supply LOG ID so that we can analyze both and se what is going on wrong in communication between those two.
Best regards,

Hi Pavle

You can download the MMW log from http://www.johnmcculloch.net/Downloads/6IUJ7JSKKC.zip and the ID for the MMA upload log ID is 6IUJ7JSKKC.

Hi - I've just done a bit of digging and this only re-downloads wav files, mp3s are untouched.

Further investigation and it's only wav files that I've added a rating to.

I think I've seen this behaviour too but with mp3s

The way I explained it to myself was that I think the rating was stored in the file header and that "file modified" date confirmed that.
So, MMW though (not totally wrongly) the file had changed and synced it again instead of just syncing the metadata.
Have a look at your file modified date once you rate a file.

Best,
Chris

Yes, editing tags, saves them to the file which then resyncs them as the file has changed. MMA doesn't have the capability to tag files so it's up to MMW to resync for tag changes to be saved in the files on your device.

Ah - I see. I had assumed that the rating was part of some properties metadata associated with but not an intrinsic part of the file, rather like the modified date for example, but if it's actually hard coded into the wav then I understand the re-download.

Thanks for getting back to me anyway.
