MMA Artist/Album OK, Android Folders not OK

Post by TheEmpathicEar »

MMA Build 923 running Galaxy A51 running Android 10 syncing to MM5 Build 2251
Example: Billy Joel, The Essential Billy Joel, display OK in MMA, both Disc 1 and Disc 2. If you use a File Manager in Android, you see "Billy Joel-The Essential Billy Joel, Disc 1" and "Billy Joel-The Essential Billy Joel, Disc 2" in addition to "Billy Joel". Strange, both artist name and album name in a folder? The only content in both of those folders is "albumart.jpg". There are a few other examples like this.

This would depend on the method you used to copy/sync the files to your device. If you used MMW you need to adjust the destination Mask in the Device Profile (Tools > Options > Portable Device Sync) to match your needs.

That's a good point. I used MM5 for the initial sync to Galaxy A51 - Card using this mask: \Music\<Album Artist>\[<Year>] <Album>\<Track #:2>. <Title> with MMA installed and running After this, I only did WiFi sync(s) from MMA. But, what I described above only happened with a few artists. I am just trying to understand how it could happen.

That might be a left over from a previous sync when either tags or Mask were incorrect.

No, I did a "Start Over" in Android. Uninstall/Reinstall of MMA, deleting all music, etc. It's detailed more in here, https://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewt ... 26&t=89765

It could've been caused by the Artwork sync setting.

What/where is this? In MM5? In MMA? Both?

In MM5, Device Profile>Sync Profile>Tagging there are some settings. i.e. Sync all artwork to file folders "albumart.jpg" is checked. I am not familar with these. Would changing any of these settings remove those folders in android that only have "albumart.jpg"? Or, would it be safe to remove them using a File Manager in Android?

Settings change will probably not remove the Artworks from device. A manual delete should do the trick.

[Just throwing this out there...] I just installed MM5 Build 2255. Can you think of anything in this build that I posted about?

The default setting(s) for artwork under "Settings" should be the best?
