MMA loses playlist after sync [#16293]

Post by toyzrme »

I watch a playlist selected on MMW get synced, and the .m3u file appears in <SDCard>\Playlists, but the playlist does not appear in the MMA UI.

Syncing to the uSD card on my Galaxy S10, roughly 163GB free.

I watched the whole sync process, including syncing the playlist itself.
I can see the playlist in \Playlists, it has the same timestamp as the other playlists which DO show, and it's 193.1k, which is in line with what I would expect.
And yet despite restarting my phone, and asking MMA to scan for new media, that playlist still does not show in the MMA UI.
Phone shows MMA was updated Nov. 26, 2019

MMW 4.1.25.1895
MMA 1.3.6.0887
Log ID: EFLG6WDICB (not sure if useful, given no crash)

How do I get my playlist back?
Thanks!

I have the same problem, sometimes all lists are in one folder, without structure, sometimes there are subfolders, but they are not complete. The synchronization has been going crazy for a few weeks

My Galaxy S10 is also experiencing simular syncing problems. However in my case, MM does not recognize most the songs in my playlists created from the app. (all playlists are viewable and playable in full in the vanella music app).

Trying to add songs to any of my playlists causes MM to crash and the songs that it recognizes to duplicate. This behavior is also exhibited on new playlists I create.

I first noticed this problem after I updated to Android 10. I keep my music on both a SD card and internal storage.

Not fixed: this just happened on MMA 1.3.8.0916 on Android 10

Note: looking at the other original report, this is slightly different: that one said playlists *disappear* - but mine get SHORTENED.

i.e. a playlist might be 2,300 tracks after syncing, then eventually it's only 3 tracks.

The odd thing is that the .m3u file is still several hundred KB - so all the information is still there.

Scanning does not restore them - I have to delete all playlists in MMA, then re-sync them back - then they're good ... for a couple of days.

Please send a debug log to check your MMA database.
And also note Playlist name.
Thanks

It happens to several playlists, but the one I play most is "Rock-Ulimate Mix+Dates".

Log ID 5C8L6SY8TY "Playlist got truncated"

Note: it JUST happened before I generated the log:
- Started MMA on my phone
- Went into the top-level playlist "Cat - Rock" (used to group my rock-related playlists), under which the above-mentioned playlist lives
- The playlist showed 2183 tracks
- Locked the screen
- Unlocked the screen, and now is showing 3 tracks
- Generated Logs

Based on prior experience, this will remain at 3 tracks until I delete all playlists, and re-sync.

Just in case it isn't clear above:
- once the playlist(s) get truncated in the UI (e.g. 3 tracks instead of 2186), the ONLY way to restore them is to DELETE ALL playlists, then re-sync and they are downloaded correctly (2186 tracks) (then eventually they get truncated again, 3 tracks)
- if I DON'T delete the playlists before the sync, it says it has downloaded the playlists, but only the shortened list appears in the UI (3 tracks)

Hope this helps.

Hopefully fixed in build 1.4.0.0932.

However, if the issue will occur again, please send debug log and then you can uncheck a new option "Update playlists from other apps"
which is a little radical but it avoids corrupting synced playlists outside MMA.

FYI has been running perfectly since the update, not a single playlist lost through dozens of syncs, restarts, etc.

Thanks for fixing this!
