[SOLVED] Sync MMW with FiiO M7 with SD card
I just bought a new FiiO M7 and an SD card for added capacity. I have my playlists and podcasts on MMW and now I want to sync them to the new MP3 player. I am using a USB sync. When I tried to do this, my device was recognized in MMW and I saw that I had the 2 GB of storage on the device and the 32 GB or storage on the SD card. However, when I go to sync, it says I only have 2 GB of storage available. How do I access the 32 GB of storage on the SD card that is inserted in my M7 player?
Re: Sync MMW with FiiO M7 with SD card
It's a different Device Profile. So you should have 2 Device Profiles for your device, 1 for internal and 1 for external memory.

Re: Sync MMW with FiiO M7 with SD card
I don't really understand what you mean by "device profile." When I connect the MP3 player to MMW on my laptop, I see my device appear in the tree. When I click on it, I can see my capacity (39.9) MB, but only 2.1 MB is free. 37.8 MB is "other." I think that in order to successfully sync all of my tracks, I would need to have my entire capacity "free." Does that make sense? I am afraid that if I start to sync now, it will say that there is not enough space, and since this is the first time I am syncing this device, I don't want to mess it up.
Re: Sync MMW with FiiO M7 with SD card
That is the Device Profile for the internal memory. You can't control the SD card from there. Check under Tools > Options > Portable Device Sync to make sure there isn't a Device Profile for the SD memory and that it isn't disabled.

Re: Sync MMW with FiiO M7 with SD card
Thanks, I found the second device profile where you said. Now, though, what do I do to sync it? Once I set this profile up, when I choose the sync button from the main tree, will it sync both profiles?
Re: Sync MMW with FiiO M7 with SD card
You can only sync the Device Profile you click the Sync button on. So you'll need to see the SD card Device Profile in the Media Tree too to be able to sync to it (make sure the show checkbox is enabled for it under Tools > Options > Portable Device Sync).

Re: Sync MMW with FiiO M7 with SD card
Sorry for all of my questions. Now I am not sure that I found the device profile. I have one that says D:\, which clearly seems to be my device storage. I have another one that says D:\(1), which I assumed was the extra storage on the SD card installed in my device. But, when I click on configure, it shows up as This device is not connected. Would it be something different? It also is not showing up on the tree, even though Show is checked.

It may be a copy of the first Device Profile and not the external storage.

Re: Sync MMW with FiiO M7 with SD card
AAAAAH! So, it seems like it may be impossible for me to use my new FiiO M7 with my 32GB micro SD card? Any other way to do this? 2GB, the capacity of the MP3 player, is definitely not enough. Can I sync some files to the 2GB player storage without messing anything up? It's a new player and a new SD card, I have never synced it yet to MMW, and for the inital sync, I want to make sure I don't do something I can't undo.
Re: Sync MMW with FiiO M7 with SD card
There should be a way, but I don't have a FiiO device to see how it works. You may want to see if other posted on this and see if there is any help in that.

Re: Sync MMW with FiiO M7 with SD card
Thank you. I did see some other posts about micro SD cards, and a complex process you have to go through before you sync them for the first time. Would any of that apply to me here? This is one of the threads I saw: https://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewt ... 12&t=96681
Will it sync with cheap MP3 Player?
I got the FiiO M7 and a 32GB micro SD card, and I have had not end of problems:
1. While trying to sync with MMW I cannot find the SD card on the tree to sync it https://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewt ... 12&t=97008
2. I therefore tried to sync only to the 2 GB of space on the MP3 player itself. Once this was done, I could not find the files on the player. I looked under the folders in "File Management" and found nothing. Am I missing something?
3. Even while syncing with only 2GB of space, it still doesn't seem like I have even the 2 GB available, since I only chose to sync 5 podcasts, and only to load the 1 most recent episode from each, meaning that only 5 files should have been synced, but it still said there was not enough space.
4. I cannot eject it properly https://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewt ... =7&t=97010
5. Cannot seem to pair it through Bluetooth with my AirPods. Maybe it is different than paring with an iPOD?
Finally, if I cannot figure this out, I am getting ready to send it back and go with another iPOD, which I didn't love, but at least I knew how to use it and it worked. Am I doing something wrong? Is there a trick to navigating the FiiO M7 that I am missing? Is there something obvious about syncing that I am missing? Any help is appreciated.

sync to micro sd card
I have been having probelms syncing my new FiiO M7 with MMW. However, I just had the thought that I may be skipping one basic step, and that is: I have not downloaded MM to my android device. Do I need to this first before attempting to sync with MMW?
The only device I have ever used with MM is my old iPOD, and I did not have MM installed on that. Please let me know if there are major differences between the iPOD and android devices and how they work with MM.

Re: Sync MMW with FiiO M7 with SD card
MMA should be available (make sure the Fiio is on the latest update) for install, but check that the FiiO is in MTP mode when connection via USB and not MSC mode.

Re: Sync MMW with FiiO M7 with SD card
Hi,
I had M6 on test and worked with user that have M7 (not M7K that have WiFi) he told me that card needs to be formatted on FiiO and then in USB settings you need to set MTP not MSC (Default problematic driver see page 25 of http://user-guide.fiio.net/M7_complete_ ... ual_EN.pdf ). You can also Install MMA on FiiO https://www.samma3a.com/tech/en/fiio-re ... imitation/ but make sure you have latest firmware for M7, but be aware not to mix it with M7K which is different device and even support MMA WiFi sync.
Also I would suggest to delete all existing FiiO Profiles and those that you do not know, close MM and setup drivers correctly then start MM and connect FiiO.
Re Profiles you can disable Internal profile on Sync Options so that MM ignores it. I tested on 128GB SDCard and User I was working with used 256GB SDcard, but we got that even 400GB worked flawlessly.
