What are your addon Must-Haves?

Post by drakinite »

Hello all,

As many of you may be aware, MediaMonkey 5 is nearing release. For those of you who rely on MediaMonkey 4 addons, since they are not backwards-compatible, I'll be working to help developers/authors port their addons to MediaMonkey 5. Additionally, in the case of addons whose authors are no longer active and cannot continue support, we may create new MediaMonkey 5 addons to provide similar features. We don't want anyone to be stuck using MediaMonkey 4 just because they depend on unsupported addons.

What I'm asking for in this thread is your "must have" and "nice to have" addon features for MM5, to help me prioritize these efforts. As an example of the info l am asking for, take a look at this post: viewtopic.php?f=30&t=97703

Thanks!

I uploaded many addons to MM's addon page, but not all of those were created by me. "By drakinite, Submitted by drakinite" means I made it on my own time. "By Ventis Media, Inc., Submitted by drakinite" means it may have been made by me or another MediaMonkey developer, so instead of crediting/thanking me, please thank the team. You can still ask me for support on any of our addons.

I'm missing the ability to copy tags from and delete a low quality with a high quality copy from Advanced Duplicate Find & Fix. This includes Play History and Playlist transfer from old to new copy (these 2 are what I'm really after, Added would be a bonus).

You can D&D files onto a main Collection (like Music) to add them to the Library.

Absolutely MonkeyFlow and MonkeyRok. Both essential (as I've mentioned in other threads).

Would be highly appreciated:

It's just simpler and it's become the only way I add files at this point, would definitely be missed by me.

Thank you, everyone, for your input!
I will be working on Duplicate Find & Fix first, because that one has been the most requested so far. If anyone has additional input in response to the following questions, I would greatly appreciate it: viewtopic.php?p=476815#p476815

The PlaylistManager is important to me. Should be standard in a Music Management System.

Backup is now available from MediaMonkey itself: https://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/WebHel ... y_Database

Changing DriveID (like Update Location of Files in Database provides) is now something you can do directly in MediaMonkey: https://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/WebHel ... sign_Drive and there is still Locate Moved/Missing Files as well: https://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/WebHel ... sing_Files

Clear Now Playing can be done using 3 dot menu in Playing and selecting Clear: https://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/WebHel ... ying_queue

Awesome. I can't find it now, but there was a page showing which MM4 addons are compatible with MM5 - maybe you should add there a list of MM4 feature-based extensions that are now built directly into MM5.

Did you perhaps mean "is now something you can do directly in MediaMonkey" and not "not something..."?

The whole purpose of the addon is to improve user experience by reducing the number of clicks to one. For common actions it is really unpleasant have to dig through menus.

Thank you. :D
