MM5 Questions

Post by abharkl »

I am so accustomed to my MM4 setup. Its a hard switch to MM5 with these layout changes. Can anyone tell me how to get the following things fixed? Then I will be a happy camper.

1. Where did the buttons go in now playing where you could load, save playlists etc.... See pictures.

2. Is there a way to get the side tree menu to be the same where i can expand artists in the far left and when i select one then it filters in the middle?

Re question #2:

If you click the three dot menu (here), and take option Show All Sub-Nodes the left hand panel will be more familiar to you.

You should also try the Column Browser .. it is better for filtering than using the left hand panel IMO
  • it takes up less space from the columns, because it runs horizontally ... I have the left panel permanently closed
  • you can configure it however you like ... I have it configured to Genre>AlbumArtist>Album, but any combination and columns can be used.
  • turn it on via View>MainPanelView>ColumnFilter
In this image I have filtered to Rock and Beck

Here is the same thing in Grid View
Want a dark skin for MM5? This is the one that works best for me .. elegant, compact & clear.

Thank you. Feels much more like home with simple changes. I never got comfortable with the grid view personally. I may give it another go in this version. I recently updated my iPhone to 15.2.1. As soon as I did MM4 said it couldnt write to the device anymore. So did MM5 until I updated to the latest. So that forced me over to 5 while I wasnt done setting it up.

I take around 30 GB of music on my phone all the time for playlists while traveling. So this will make it easier to keep building them.

I take it the playlist buttons cant be put back to how 4 had them?

No, they're just in the 3 dot menu.

Thank you. I wish there was a way to put them back but that will take some getting use to.
