Problem to switch from English to French [#19881]

Post by AndréBlanquer »

Hello to all.

I use MediamMonkey 5.04.2690 (standard edition) that I've installed directly in French.
In the "Options / General" window, the interface language displayed is: "French (Download)" which seems very judicious…
And a bit curious: why "(Download)"? But let's pass for the moment.

To make English screenshots to integrate in my previous post, I put MediaMonkey in English,.
Then, I wanted to go back to my native language and put MediaMonkey back in French.

As soon as I click on "French (Download)" MediaMonkey tries to download what would be language files.
Why? It was in French before, so it has the necessary files.
But it cannot find these files and informs me politely with a short message.
Aware that there is no translation file, Metatogger no longer offers me the possibility to switch to French.

See here the absence of French: https://ibb.co/JzLbQ86

I searched the previous posts. The post "Can't find French language anymore" did not seem to fit my case.
Only solution: uninstall, reinstall and reprogram Metatogger.

Is there a better solution?

Thanks to those who will read and answer me.

I'm unable to reproduce. Switched from English to French to English and then checked and French is still available for selection. Try a full exit from MediaMonkey (no Task Manager entries) and restart. Does the problem persist? If it does, can you try reinstalling MediaMonkey?

Hi,
I am able to replicate strange behavior on changing LNG. Added as https://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=19881

Please try to install MM5 again (on top of existing) and select French during install. That should fix the problem an dfor language change say NO to download/install language pack and restart of MM.

It should work ok an dif not you can manually restart MM at any time.

Hello Peke and Lowlander.

I started by applying Lowlander's proposal.
When I saw the dialog box for loading the language pack, I understood!

For a long time, in order to try to keep moderately well designed softwares (I'm not talking about MediaMonkey of course) from messing up the C drive, I create them in a specialized folder on the D drive.
But MediaMonkey didn't foresee this and looks for the folder where to paste the language pack into C... and can't find it.

Two solutions:
1. MediaMonkey designers add the possibility to change the folder;
2. when I want to make screenshots in English, I do it from an English speaking portable version.

Many thanks to both of you.

You installed MediaMonkey on the D drive? If so, did you do so as a regular or portable install? Also, did you in Windows set Program Files to D or you just select D as the install location?

Do you have evidence that MediaMonkey tried to save the language pack in C?
