Playing Songs on iPhone Updated MM5 Database [#19423]

Post by telecore »

After playing my iPhone in the car today, I did a re-sync when I got home and made some playlist adjustments, now I notice that all of the songs that played during my trip have a modified timestamp and I think the play counters have been updated - this is something that I do not want - I do not see any way to turn this off in any settings - can someone tell me how to turn this off?

Check this setting ... it should be unchecked
Want a dark skin for MM5? This is the one that works best for me .. elegant, compact & clear.

For some reason, I am no longer getting that checkbox to appear on any menu under the iPhone device settings...

There is no setting like that for Apple devices.

Which Build (Help > About) of MediaMonkey are you using and is the issue that the file Date Modified updates or also that the Played# is updated in MediaMonkey?

I am using the latest beta 5.0.4.2667 and yes - the issue is that the file date/modified is updated for each track - this has a number of undesired consequences - in my case, I would never want to have any device sync back any metadata at all, ever - and in fact, I would not want playback from MM5 to update the files, either

Up until recently, I don't think that this has been a problem - but after many years of using primarily MM4, I recently have now made the jump to MM5 and have started using it to sync all devices

Is this issue being worked? It continues to exist in all new beta releases -

It's set for a fix in MediaMonkey 5.1.

Has this ever been fixed? Syncing my iphone has been updating tracks in the library for months and I don't see the tab for syncing the device -> library

The linked bug shows this is not the case.

I didn't create bug #19423, so I cannot speak for it's accuracy, but for sure, beta version 2813, and the others over the past few months have all caused the problem of updating tracks during an iPhone sync - surely this is documented elsewhere or am I just the only person who has experienced this?

EDIT: I see that "sync device->library" is not present for Apple devices, so the user has no control over syncing in that direction - I would prefer no syncing from device -> library for Apple devices and have Mediamonkey control the track tags, etc.
