Crossfade

Post by FredMistral »

Hello,
I'm testing if MM matches my needs before buying it.
One of the important features for me is crossfading. I found it in MM but need your help to run it :
From my computer, I imported some music files (.mp3 or .flac) in MM. Put them from the Music Library to Selection and then to Playlist.

Run playlist with Playback rules options as following :
Music :
- Unable bookmarking : unchecked
- Ignore shuffle : unchecked
- Ignore autoDJ when playing : unchecked
- Remove silence at the begening/end of track : checked
- Crossfading
- fade out : 4 s
- fade in : 4s
- Gap/Overlap : 4s overlapping

Doing so my intention is having : the current music ends with volume decreasing on its last 4 seconds, the next one begins with volume increasing on its 4 first seconds, and at the same time both musics are ovelapping during 4 seconds.

Am I wrong ?
Why is there absolutely no fading (nor in, nor out, nor cross) ?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Laptop Lenovo/Windows 10
MM free portable version 5.0.5.2695
Output audio MM Wasapi (but same issue with the other ones)

Hi,
Try these settings:
- Crossfading
- fade out : 0 s
- fade in : 0s
- Gap/Overlap : 10s overlapping

Increase Fade in by 0.5s steps and lower overlap to get the best results.

That is strange, can you record desktop screencast?

Hi,
Well, as I wrote in my first post, I am using MM Wasapi (out_WASAPI.dll), but same behavior with the other audio output plugins.

Why do you mean saying "desktop screencast"?

Hi,
Screencast means that you record Desktop screen and show your settings and why it does not work.

Here is my Screencast testing crossfading (All relevant Settings, Start playback of each file so that you can hear their beginnings then left crossfade do its thing, then reversed tracks and do it again. For me crossfade works perfectly.
You can watch video at https://streamable.com/f3yfom (it expires in 2 days).

Hi,

OK, so i am looking for a software which I can screencast with (or could you advise me about one?)

Furthermore, my MM version is not in english (install by default has been done in my country language) ; in order that you can understand my screencast, do you know how I can turn the MM language in english (I didn't find the feature in the options menu) ?
Thank you

Best regards

You can use Jing or even PowerPoint to record.

Tools > Options > General has the language setting.

Hi
Well, while I was building the screencast, I found the cause of the problem: I'm using gb63's Song Preview addon. When Song Preview is up and running, the crossfade doesn't work.

This dashes my hopes of using MM...
Indeed, I'm looking for an audio player with these 5 main functions:
- Shuffle audio playback from a playlist ;
- Cast on Google cast group ;
- Use of ReplayGain ;
- Crossfade between two tracks ;
- Limiting playback of each track to the first 3 minutes.

I was excited that all these functions were supported by MM, but the last two are incompatible. What a disappointment!

Unless there's a solution other than Song Preview?

Thanks for your reply

Best regards

I finally realised that crossfade doesn't work with Chromecast devices.
I have to abandon the idea of using MM

Hi,
If you find any application taht crossfade in chromecast, we would be very grateful to tell us here.

I've tested numerous apps and none were capable to crossfade.

To be honest I would be very grateful how that app would Crossfade 24/96 FLAC file with adjusting 16/44.1 WAV file without compromising bit perfect playback.
