I have over 700 entries in the database with an incorrect Type in their properties. I can change the Type manually by editing each row, but the software won't allow me to highlight multiple entries and change them all at once. Is there some way to accomplish this? I considered a SQL command, but since I haven't used it in over 20 years, my structuring skills are pretty bad. I am currently at version 5.0.5.2695.
Thanks

You should be able to change Type on multiple files through Properties. Is that not working for you?

Re: Mass change of Type in properties
If I highlight more than one entry, right-click, go to Properties, change the Type then press Enter, nothing happens.
I 'm only allowed to change one entry at a time.

Re: Mass change of Type in properties
Using properties on multiple selection to change the type definitely works for me (just a user, not affiliated with MM) using the latest V2024 release candidate.
You might want to try that, before you do it all one at a time!!
If it still doesnt work, you could try some of the steps under database repair, and maintenance.
ps Ive used pretty much every beta they ever put out, and never had any big issues...

Yes, there should be no issue doing this. What node in the Media Tree are you selecting files in?

Re: Mass change of Type in properties
Well, I figured out what's going on. I can change the Type to any of the standard nodes provided by MM (Classical Music, Podcasts, etc.). But, the software won't allow a change to a node I created.
This begs the question, how do other users classify items which don't fit MM's descriptions?

Re: Mass change of Type in properties
Ah, you're mixing Collection and Type.
As Collections are Criteria based you can use any Criteria, it doesn't have to be Type. So you could use Genre, Location or a Custom field to have files included in that particular Collection.

Thanks for the tip. I have a few custom fields I'm not using.
