FLAC padding i.e memory allocation

Post by UweBo »

What happens with MM5 when a large picture(s) is added to a FLAC file, then removed and/or a smaller size added again.
Is the padding reduced to save on file size or left alone as it was set to make space for the large picture?

In such case the file size is not changed and the remaining space is left as metadata padding (usable for future additional metadata). FLAC files are usually quite large, this reduces tagging time significantly.
